Judith, I am so sorry your daughter and son-in-law are going through this 2 days before Christmas. As a CFO, I just thought I would chime in on one of your comments. If he is a W-9 employee, then he should be first in line before other creditors and shareholders. Employee wages are always considered first in any bankruptcy proceeding because that's the type of liability that the officers and directors of the company can be personally liable for. So don't let your son-in-law give up on those earnings, he is entitled to them.

Stephen, I have started using an indoor Kinetic bike trainer to keep the legs moving in the off season here in New England. What do you think of the calorie burning effect of cycling indoors? With any luck, I hope to step foot in your studio sometime in the new year and really start to put your tips into action.

Margaret, I thought it was an ok movie and would agree with your assessment of their accent. They just weren't authentic enough. I also thought the movie got too violent towards the end.

I had not seen the article from the Globe but paying to pitch is like investing with blinders on. How can you apply the ability to pay as a filter for quality? That argument just does not hold water when investing in the startup space. Fred Wilson from Union Square sums up my view on this issue rather nicely in his recent blog post.

Sad news indeed. I grew up in Boston watching the Birg/Ainge/Parish trio match up against Jabbar in more than a few NBA championships. Sounds like he'll pull through though.

My sister and brother in law were at toy's r us and walmart this past Saturday morning at 6am to buy a couple of these. Apparently there were adults fighting over them. This I cannot explain but my nieces went nuts for them as if it was a brand new iPhone. Somehow certain toy manufacturers have mastered the art of creating demand.

Hey Christine, you may also want to check out the Williams Sonoma cookbook that is all slow cooker recipes. We use it all the time and were surprised with what you can cook in a slow cooker beyond chicken and chili.

I never would have thought that my dog could have gotten the swine flu. They seem to be so immune to everything (atleast at age 2) that it never entered my mind, but good to know!

My wife and I treated ourselves at Metropolis often while living in the South End. It's a great spot with awesome food. They seem to have moderated their prices as well since when they first opened (or at least it feels that way, my tolerance for higher restaurant tabs may have increased too!)
