Not sure! I myself prefer Roasted Peppers (Maynard), Boston Bean (Maynard) and KnowFat! (Bedford & Worcester) for lunch than O'Naturals. The service is WAY better and the food is fresh and healthy too. :) I also enjoy Big Fresh and their maple syrup soda and homemade hummus.

Listen Lo R, I appreciate your time and thoughts. HOWEVER, I grew up in the Hilltowns of Western MA 1/2 hour from a grocery store. If anyone is a hillbilly it's me. Please read my recent post about what happened at my Dixmont home. I'm only a mile from rte 7 and near the center of town. I'm really not that isolated. It is out of my hands about the gate. The wind company we are working with (see other posts) may gate off the property and will be posting a 24 hour guard. No one I know trusts the folks in this beautiful town. I really do love Maine and most of the people in it. However, I've been violated more than once and my personal property has been stolen more than once. The gate an any future security measures (cameras, guard, gate) is all out of my control. I'm sorry to say we're at wits end. I lived in one town in MA for 18 years and now another for 13. This type of thing has never happened there. So what do you want me to think about your beautiful little Maine? We give and we give and we let people use our land for their own enjoyment. And then they spit in our faces. Thanks again for your time Lo, I'm just not in the mood to hear it. And I'm out $2K right now to boot.

Lo R, welcome to Gather! I urge you to check out all of my posts on Maine. Especially my most recent about how my solar panels were stolen off my home in Maine. I have HUGE respect for 99% of Mainers. All except for the ones that keep stealing my stuff that insurance does not cover! I feel bad for people desperate enough to steal from hard working folks with two jobs.

Perhaps you'll consider an insurance company with a local agent. This was my HR Manager's advice today.

John,
So good to hear from you. I'm not exaggerating. If you're coming back to the US get a gas cap that locks for your car.

Don't get copper gutters or other trim made of copper. Folks are now ripping gutters and copper pipes off of houses. Houses that have been foreclosed upon are getting the wire ripped out and sold for the copper. These are real stories about how life here now is.

Nothing is safe. I'm sorry John, it's not the America you left behind. I'm not happy living here right now. However, my friends and family keep me here...I could not bear to be far from them.

My hubby used to be addicted to WoW. (grumble)

He's WAY better now and hardly plays. He had no soical life when he played WoW all of the time. I'm so much happier in my marriage now that he does not play WoW every day. :)

Laura,

The Liberty Mutual in MA was very mean. The one in Maine was very nice to my husband when he called. Two days later we were denied again verbally. We're having out friend that is an attorney contact them directly. After all, we're off the grid and have no power without the panels!

I'm not being rude. I talked to the town office, the wind power company we're working with, and our next door neighbors. Our neighbor is having his friends check all of the pawn shops and we're checking Ebay and Craig's List.

I'm just frustrated with LM, the cops, and just the whole thing in general.

My husband has taken to calling this a 'redneck tax' (we too have redneck genes in us and do many redneck things in our daily lives...) However, if the person knew what they were doing they would have stolen the rest of the solar system. The panel is useless without the rest of the system.

Thanks for your comment Laura. I should get the denial in writing and I should have my freind write a letter right away.

We were also denied in 2003 when our primary home was struck by lightning. The worse part about that claim was that they took away our 'safe homeowner credit' after that occured and told us over the phone we should have paid for our repairs out of pocket? What?? Crazy, huh?

First of all we're from MA with property in ME. We're considered 'out of towners' and 'mass-holes'. We have respect from many of the locals (and we are good friends with our next door neighbor). However, I don't think the cops give two craps about what happened. After all, we were disturbing them on our Nation's Birthday and all...

The Cops LIED to us and said they can't dust for prints because it's outside? Um, that's not true. I talked to a forensics teacher from a local college and she told me that's a lie.

So were the cops helpful? I'd have to say my tax dollars for Maine were not well spent on the entire situation. Someone in our town trashed the cemetary up there recently. I'm pretty sure the cops told the town they could not investigate since it was outside. *shrug*

I hope the space program does not go away. It really continues to inspire what humans are really able to do. I'm glad the most recent Mars project and the recent landing to drill the ice has gone well so far. Spending that much on a ship and having it fail is just unthinkable right now.

One of my grad school professors worked on one of the Apollo missions as an engineer. I love hearing his stories about those times. I'll have to remember to ask him which mission he worked on.

I'm part of the Mariner's Society on Holland America. There were a lot of single elderly folks that just keep on cruising for weeks at a time. Not only are they loyal to the brand but they love spending their alone years at sea instead of cooped up in some old age home!

John,

Thank you for stopping by. I hope all is well with you! I've been so busy with grad school and work that I have not had much time to Gather.

Not only are they taking care of their resources, the are using them for clean energy with the majority of the country using geothermal heat and electricity.

The water there is tasty, but I think most of it comes from underground. The hot water is naturally hot from the earth (unlimited hot showers, yay!). The tap water is as good as spring water, so before a hike you can just let the cold run for a minute to get the sulfer smell out from the hot and just drink it like bottled water. At gas stations when you go to buy a bottle of water they tell you to fill up your water bottle in the bathroom rather than buy some! (how kind of them since it is so good out of the tap).

Icelandic women are beautiful. I think it is because they stay so active and get plenty of fresh air. We did not see any fat people while there (unlike America where fat folks are a'plenty!) When a woman takes good care of herself, eats good food, and wears the fine European clothes they sell there their beauty is second to none! :)
