And I did, as well but never received ANYTHING in 8 years. You, at least, received return correspondence.

He's the busiest, most powerful man in the country right now. Sorry he couldn't take 15 minutes out of a jam-packed schedule to personally write a letter.

Hell, my sister-in-law (whose kids went to dance classes and play groups with Obama's kids in Chicago and her husband is a lifelong friend of Rahm Emanuel) wrote to the family after the election and even she received a "form" letter, thanking her for the support. However, she understands just how busy they are and isn't mad.

Get over it.

Wow, that's quite a sense of entitlement you've got there.

I wrote several emails over the years to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. and NEVER even heard back from them.

But the reason my ex-in-laws got divorced was that, after almost 40 years of marriage, my ex-father-in-law came out! They live apart (he has a live-in boyfriend) but vacation together and go out to dinner at least once a week. He lives in Brooklyn and she lives in northern Westchester County, NY (about 45 miles apart) but they still hang out all the time. It's weird! lol

BTW... I'm sufficiently grossed out by your fiance's friend's parents. Yikes! How could their dates feel comfortable being there, KNOWING their ex-partner was in the next room. WTF?

Steve, I'm going to show her this. She's been complaining about her braces since Day #1. Maybe when she sees that people can see past a little metal on her teeth, she'll appreciate what they're going to do for her when they come off. :)

Unfortunately, it doesn't get much better as they get older.

My 14 year old is being stalked by an ex-boyfriend at school AGAIN. They dated in 7th grade and she broke up with him when he got controlling. He stalked her for a couple of months afterward, until he repeatedly groped her and tried to force her to kiss him at a 7th grade Valentine's dance. He was suspended and we thought all this was worked out, as he left her alone... until 2 weeks ago. I guess he figured that they moved up to the high school and that it was "fair game". Started all the stalking crap again and tried to physically hurt her (he lunged at her and tried to hit her when she told him to go away.) We met with the principal the next morning and she promised us that she was "handling it". The next week, Stalker Boy kept trying to talk to my daughter (he was warned to have ZERO contact with her or he would be suspended or expelled, depending on level of contact) and my daughter reported him. Another round of meetings and... he was let off with another verbal warning. I told the school any further situations would be reported to the police and my lawyer would be contacting the school about how to keep my daughter safe.

It's sick but it seems the schools promise everything regarding safety but, in our case, deliver nothing.

And the scary part? We're one of the best school districts in the country. We routinely rank in the top 50 in the US. Sad, isn't it?

Wow, out of all my Gather friends, you are perhaps the most "to the right". I'm afraid of how ultra-conservative someone would have to be, to be so far to YOUR right that you dropped them as a Gather friend.

(Completely off topic but, how's your daughter doing? I remember she was on here and you were worried about her having problems with some of the less than polite people here, and she deleted her account. :) )

Yep, I remember these.

I, also, keep a bunch of them on hand for when our friends' kids stop by. Our friends all reciprocate. So when we combine all the candy at the end of the night, we usually end up with at least 2 dozen full-sized bars.

My daughters got these last year - the younger 2 were given general "you're going to hell if you don't believe what we believe" crap, the older 2 were given "special" ones that told them (with gory, color pic's) about the horrors of abortion. Totally uncalled for. Keep in mind, my older 2 were only 13 and 12 at the time.

My husband went to their house, handed them their crap back and told them that not only was it unacceptable but next time, he'd bring it back, set it on fire and leave it on their doorstep.

I know about the Catholic thing (if I chose to use my confirmation name, I'd have 2 myself); however, I gave 2 of my daughters 2 middle names at birth (one's was in honor of a relative who passed away the week before she was born, the other to honor the person who introduced me to my husband.)

Wow, and I get crap from people for giving 2 of my daughters 2 middle names.

Another list I like is the most popular (and weird) baby names list that Social Security Admin. publishes every year. Always makes me laugh when I see the name "Unique" on that list. Yeah, she's Unique... just like the several hundred other little girls named Unique this year.
