Give the Gift of Reading: Dinosaurium by Kristen O'Connell, DK Publishing

As my oldest grandson was growing up, he was always fascinated with dinosaurs. He loved them so much that I made up a "dinosaur dance" that we could do together. After reading his most recent book on dinosaurs, we would start to dance. First, you squat down and turn your legs out like sumo wrestlers, then, you pull your arms close to you, so your arms stick out from your elbows up, and make your hands into claws like a T-Rex. Then, you move all about doing the dance, but make sure you don't knock anything over with your tail! Lastly, we would let out our magnificent dinosaur roar! My oldest grandson is now 9, and we don't do the dinosaur dance that much any more. But I will still be able to pass on the dinosaur dance, because my twin boy grandsons are 4 now! They like me to read to them almost as much as I enjoy doing it! These books would be perfect for us to dance to, after I show them how to do it!

Spiders don't bother me as much as other bugs do. I think maybe it's because spiders eat most of the other bugs. But watch out for the Brown Recluse Spider, the bite is very toxic. Someone sent me an email about this spider, so I'm trying to spread the word. There were pictures in the email that showed a man's hand that had been bitten. The hand got all red and swollen and by the third day, it looked like someone had dripped acid on the hand. It was horrible! These spiders like to be secluded in dark places. The email said to be careful around wood piles and attics. I think the man who was bitten, was in his attic at the time. You have a great picture, but please be careful!

Thanks for your comments. Maximus is just over 2 years old. He has started to have a weight problem, and I might have to start calling him "Garfield". He likes to play all the time, but he likes to play rough. Sometimes, I put on oven mitts so I can play with him. But, most of the time, he just plays with our dog, Koko. I still have to find a good photo of her to put on gather.

Great Article! I agree with you, 100%! I think we can all make our points of view known without being rude and hurtful to each other. I haven't been a member of Gather for very long, but almost everything I've seen so far has been good. My mother always told me, "If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all". I have tried to live by these words. Maybe some of you have heard this saying too?

These bugs remind me of a time about 8 years ago. I went camping near the ocean in New Jersey. We were all sitting around a campfire and talking and having a good time when, all of a sudden, I felt something hit my chest. I jumped up and looked down, and I saw an insect I had never seen before. It was pretty big and I screamed for someone to knock it off of me. When I finally realized that they might not feel right about knocking something off my chest, I did it myself. The bug flew away, and everyone started laughing, even me! For the rest of the night and a couple of days afterward, we all kept trying to figure out what kind of bug it was. We never did figure it out, but I think the bugs in the picture resemble that bug a great deal. When I looked at the photo, my scalp started to crawl. I am not a very squeamish person, so I think that your bugs and mine might be the same kind. They aren't very good looking, are they!

I think September 11 should be a national holiday. If it is made into a holiday, people will remember the heroes better. I think having September 11 as a reminder, it will help people to be vigilant and help keep our nation safe. We should never forget! Having a special day will help us and hopefully, start to heal us.
