I agree about the tone of this book. Maybe some people are motivated by being talked down to but I'm not one of them.

Dena, that is a good point. I think it is a balance of both -- trying to change the way we view ourselves internally, regardless of outside forces, and trying to change the harmful messages we receive from childhood on through life.

I suppose I am most concerned with how to prevent this cycle in future generations... I have three baby sisters and don't want them to face the same pressures. When I was in high school, I took diet pills and went on very unhealthy fad diets because I thought boys wouldn't like me.

How do we improve the whole body image issue when there is so much (i.e. magazines, music videos) working against us?

And many times people don't realize they aren't eating well ... a lot of "healthy" foods, especially in restaurants, are full of calories.
