As cultural values change so do public heroes. I believe a Greek Philospher said or maybe it is simply an adage: That a country's character is known by who it chooses as its heroes.

I too think we do not recognize that heroes would not be if they did not have inner qualities that keep them dedicated and an innate sense of what is morally right.

This past year I have been enjoing favorites, J D Robb, David Balducci, Greg Isles, John Grisham, Lee Child, Carla Neggars Jane Heller.

What a lovely holiday tradition to share. I think I will take adapt this tradition to my lifestyle which would be to try to listen to several favorite carols done by different singers.

Not the same as good classical music, but I can no longer listen to long pieces without headaches.

Saw a Kabuki segment (one act) at the national Kabuki theater in Tokyo with its stylized movements, songs and traditions. The play starts in the morning with a long break for dinner in the late afternoon. The different acts last anywhere from an hour to two. I plan to write about it in the New Year.

Which reminds me - Happy New Year.

Lee replied, "Nice try Sheryl, but not even close. One is an economic issue, the other is a moral life and death issue."


Wrong Lee - Economic decisions are also moral decisions. At times those choice s could result in severe hardship.

Daily business decisions often are moral choices that effect the social fabric of society. Yet, it seems it is only wether to use one vendor over another or one transportation company rather than another.

It is called ethical decision making and many practice it without fanfare.

Meet Joe Chemo,a camel who wishes he'd never smoked cigarettes. Joe is having trouble feeling COOL these days, now that he's lost most of his hair. Worst of all, Joe just realized that he's been MaNiPuLaTeD all his life by tobacco companies. Poor guy -- his tobacco IQ never was very high.




And so it goes.
