That could very well be; I'm not sure. Apparently when reporters tried to contact Goffstown for more information about the arrest, they were directed to Secret Service, because they "coordinated" his arrest.

He offered to view it, and then had him taken away -- pretty important caveat. The guy also pointed at me to have me taken away when I remarked that "Giuliani didn't like the tough questions." He didn't want to have to field anything but flowery questions from the mainstream press -- is this not obvious!

The Giuliani representative was being an asshole. The reason the situation escalated is not, as it has been contended, because these guys approached him yelling, but because the guy laughed at them, dismissed them offhand, and turned around to talk to other people.

Folks -- he didn't lose his press credentials. CNN didn't kick him out -- the Giuliani campaign did. Let's be clear. No one revoked his credentials; CNN let all the other people in his entourage that weren't arrested back into the hall. I assume he would've been let back in as well, if the cops didn't decide to arbitrarily arrest him.

I don't think the evidence is worth taking into consideration. Referring to Giuliani's comments about the towers falling, yeah, I had seen it.

I'm not a hugely aligned with 911 Truth, to be honest, but I don't dismiss them offhand. Ron Paul has come out in defense of these individuals, actually, and appears on Alex Jones's show on a regular basis. He doesn't seem to feel hijacked.

He asked for documentation, Lepacek said he could provide it, and he laughed and turned around. This after about a minute of ad hominem nonsense, trying to downplay them and basically make fun of this guy.

Yeah, he was being a bit obnoxious, but who cares. Who is the Giuliani campaign to will people out of the room, against the expressed wishes of the people running the show? (i.e. CNN).

He will get some limited attention; though, had it not be on video camera, it wouldn't have gotten any attention whatsoever, which I think is a pretty important point to note.

I disagree that a public candidate has the "right" to ignore questions about personal conflicts of interest. Giuliani's staff could've handled this a lot better -- answered the questions, say they would answer the questions pending documentation, whatever -- but they chose to forcibly remove these people. I myself was almost denied re-entry because I went out to cover the arrest -- is that right?

The only reason these reporters made a scene -- quite correctly, I'd say -- is because they were brushed off and ignored. Hardly democratic. The staffer preferred to discuss issues with "real reporters" (his words) that wouldn't ask such silly questions. Can you imagine smugly laughing as someone, however spectacularly, was asking you a question as they were removed by police? Keep in mind that not only was the person in question nabbed, his entourage was detained as well, until the police started realizing they were interrupting a live broadcast and let them go.

Well, they can, of course, under Chapter VII provisions authorizing force. That's the only time military action is acceptable under international law, aside from self-defense.

Perhaps in the 90s -- I don't dispute that. But what about in 2003? That's what relevant. Scott Ritter went around the country in 2003, as a conservative Republican veteran, opposing the war because he knew, from the expertise he has (that you seem to acknowledge), that Iraq had no capabilities whatsoever.

I used the wikipedia article to get that paragraph in my last reply. I didn't see any complaints about them being barred from sites, however.

I thought Brownback was saying the GOP "was" the party of life; contrasting himself with the Democrats, but maybe I am wrong. I assume Brownback supports the invasion and occupation of Iraq? The brutality of the Death Penalty is pretty banal compared to Iraq, so I'd say the point stands.

It's also worth recalling that nothing in UN 1441 legalized unilateral acts of aggression against other states, actually. So, even if Hussein didn't comply with UN 1441, don't really see what's worth recalling vis-a-vis the invasion. Hussein posed a threat to no one.

Wow, Jack Straw said that; I guess I couldn't be more wrong. Hitler said Poland was a threat, too -- as most powerful world leaders do when carrying out brazen acts of aggression.

Do we take these people seriously, or the weapons inspectors/scientists who investigated the fatuous claims of these monsters?

Still awaiting a response to that "evidence or retraction" charge.

None of the weapons inspectors complained about that. They also stated, repeatedly, that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction, there were no indications that they planned on developing them -- let alone had the capability to do so -- and they had been given access to all the sites.

"February 14, 2003: UNMOVIC chief weapons inspectors Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei present their second report to the United Nations Security Council. They state that the Iraqis have been co-operating well with the inspectors and that no weapons of mass destruction have been found, but that the Saddam Hussein government had still to account for many banned weapons believed to have been in his arsenal. Mr Blix also expresses doubts about some of the conclusions in Colin Powell's Security Council presentation of February 5, and specifically questions the significance of some of the photographic evidence that Mr Powell has presented."

The person in question was Eric Altermann, columnist for The Nation and editor of AlterNet, I believe. Pretty prominent figure in the blogging and left-journalism world. Now I'm really pissed the police shooed me away.

I was in the bathroom near the place in question, and eavesdropped on police working outside of the window -- frankly, I didn't want to publish this while I was in the gymnasium itself, because I had no idea what was happening -- and heard one ask another, "Did you get a statement from those women yet?"
"No."
"Okay, let's do that."

I exited to find them inside, speaking to some professional-looking women that were serving as bouncers (if one would find them physically intimidating, or something) to some prestigious VIP room, replete with bar and catered food. I waited until the cops left, and approached them to ask about what happened to the man that arrested.

They stared at me blankly, and one eventually offered, "I don't know."
"Oh. I see," I said, a little surreal'd out, "Because, I thought you had given a statement to the police about it," I said.

"Nope," one of them said. "Perhaps you should ask the officer about it."

I gave her an intensely snotty "uh-huh" and left. I wonder how these people were involved -- they seemed to be employees that didn't want someone to know what was going on, but I can only speculate.
