I hadn't run into @bookviewcafe -- how regular are their contests, what basic rules? :) I'll add them to the list. :)

well, you use the one word to get all the subwords... then try to write an actual poem using just those subwords. :) The link "a real poem in that vein" should give a better idea. :)

Interesting stuff--I don't use gather enough to notice the changes (I liked the conceit of "article", but by the time I came around, I think, most things I saw weren't in the shape of an article by any stretch. Too many games, too many random communities, too hard to find the "good" ones. I think it's fallen to "just another social network"ism, where their strong suit may have been the whole moderation aspect of things.

Still, I know plenty of people are still very active here; and many of them _do_ create new and interesting content.

I've got no problem being taxed--happy to share and share alike (to an extent, right?). I like being able to donate to charities versus giving straight to the government. I wish I could donate my taxes (versus my income) straight to education, health care (and research), freeway infrastructure, environmental research, and other such things.
