Dave, I don't deny the threat. Nor do I deny that something must be done. I do, however, have seen a clear-cut pattern of the Bush administration making fearful proclamations at the exact moments they feel most threatened politically.

I believe the hype, I just don't give a crap about Cherthoff's "gut." The delivery, to me, is pandering to the lowest common demoninator, Americans who believe we are living in a Jack Ryan film, not a geopolitically complex landscape.

I'm not naive, Dave, they ALL want the slow clap. Fred's just a little easier to call out about it.

Hi. I am planning to write a bit about this. Al Gore has showed us his heart on more than one occasion, which is something that the rest of the field can not claim. If Al entered the fray, my "undecided" status would change in a hearbeat.

Yes, Richard. It takes a brilliant legal mind to deduce that picking on the lady with cancer is the way to go.

Folks can say what they will about Edwards' (or any other candidate's) background, but Ann's tactics aren't really about that.

WOW. Look what happens when a girl goes out to meet a friend for drinks. For those of you who may not have read carefully, there were criticisms of both sides here. Yup, Coulter is irrelevant. So, however, are the spinny emails that show up in my inbox every day. The point, as you all know, is that this entire parade of rhetoric is irrelevant. I may be a Dem, and I may personally despise the Coulter, but I also despise the rhetoric on my side. It's wrecking everything, and as Matt C pointed out, distracting us from the REAL issues at hand.

PJ, I agree with you. I, too, am guilty of the "snark." I want people to read my stuff, and sometimes, pushing the line a little bit gets that done. That being said, what Coulter does is beyond the pale, pushing boundaries for the heck of it at the expense of her own dignity. She in no way comes across at legitimate or smart...jsut trashy. Coulter is the Lindsay Lohan of political commentators.....except there's no rehab for her particular predilection.
