my top 5 tips:
1. Get your signs right. That means have the arrows pointed in the right direction, put your address, time, and date.
2. Set up your items like you're a store. People need to see items to buy them.
3. Realize that you're getting rid of things you don't want and price the items to move.
4. Have a sense of humor! People love to buy things if they're having a good time.
5. Plan to give your leftovers to charity. Some charities will even come pick everything up after your sale.

margieanne: good question. yes, i know of many best friends that are going to the prom together... and many girlfriends are deciding to forgo the date and make it a girls night out. i personally think the prom is a night to have fun, so if having fun is going to the prom with a best friend, and then going to a hotel and watching "girl movies," then make a night of it. this will be a whole lot more memorable (and hopefully fun) than not going.

i suppose the one caveat is to make sure safety is considered (and laws aren't broken!)

thank you for the heads up on 'prom night'.
i hadn't realized that it was a remake of a 1980s jamie lee curtis film!
i will amend that.

hey everyone! i've been ear to ear grinning all morning reading these comments and memories. i had a realization... even the "tough" moments (like laura c's getting dumped in the corner!) give a chuckle because it's YESTERDAY! it's over. you can just see her sitting there all dolled up with baby's breath in her hair and pink ribbons. it's like i said... a scene from a movie. but i'm glad it all worked out. and, yes, it does look like lisa and i were in "sixteen candles." i'm hoping to find out where she is.... someone out there knows. she went to tulane... and we lost touch. though i've googled her, there are a lot of lisa hunt's out there! and i'm sure she got married. she was a catch.

cleaning can be less tiring if you take it one project at a time.
it's easier and the next thing you know is you have a cleaner, more organized house!
