Living near Boulder at the time of the crime, I followed it with interest and read at least one book about it. Unless DNA evidence clearly indicates this man's connection with the victim, I will not believe he had anything to do with the murder. He seems to live in a fantasy world. It's necessary to be there in person to do a crime. Anybody can live in a dream world.

Free-range adds a new ingredient to the conversation. The chickens around here have a choice between being fed "chicken-feed" that comes in big bags, supplemented by kitchen scraps, and busting out of the chicken enclosure to go free. Lately most of them seem to prefer free rein, and they walk around, followed by anywhere between two and nine little chicks, scratching in the dirt for whatever they can turn up. We used to have a lot more eggs; now we have a lot more chicks. It seems to be a matter of freedom.

When the word got out some years ago that 90+ per cent of the people were codependent, I concluded that codependency was normal. In a way, so is mental illness. Depends on the definitions and interpretations.

All of a sudden this morning my Gather material is fitting on my screen much better. I suspect they've changed it and hope Rlene is also seeing a change.

As for contests or ratings, I have no interest in taking part in either. The writing contests have little to do with good writing. Ratings mean nothing at all if people think the only decent rating is a 10.

I didn't see this article the first time around and am glad you reprinted it. You help me to be more sensitive when I see someone fit-looking using a handicapped parking space or being wheeled around in an airport. Wounds don't have to be spurting blood to be real.

Happy Birthday, Clare, and thank you for the words of wisdom. At 81, I look back on the 60s with fondness, and the seventies as not so bad either. Keep truckin', as they used to say. And think of something adventurous to do. I celebrated my 75th with a hot-air balloon ride.

After noting Debra's comment of July 4, I deleted the paragraph to which she was referring. What I was saying there doesn't make sense in English nearly so much as it does in Latin. And thank you for your clarification of July 5, Debra. It makes sense. A variation on what you have written might be: These are people who I know are good.
