A good friend died this year. He was a Vietnam vet. Emphysema was slowly eating at him and he had to take a supply of oxygen with him wherever he went. I knew he still struggled with terrible dreams and it was then that he would disappear for several days at a time. Things would build up on him and he'd have to get away from everything. He'd go out in the desert.

He was killed in a vehicle accident, quickly. I really miss him. He was a good friend. But I can't help but think, and please forgive me for saying this, this was an easier way to go. I've seen death from emphysema too many times. And, although he told me he had accepted this and was ready to go when his time came, the thought that some day he may not be able to take off, to get away from everything when he needed, really troubled me. But I do miss him. A lot.

Kris and I have had many a delightful conversation, both in person and on the phone. She is the sister I never had. :)

Rumour has it we have the best Kettle Corn, but then I did hear the rumour down here. Wine is fine. I prefer dry to sweet and favorite is Madiera.

Kris is ALWAYS invited. She's one of the nicest people I know. ;)

Ah, heck, bring the other side of the leash, too. I like groups, err, all kinds.
