The effects of our efforts in Iraq are amazing. There is no doubt that if we were not embroiled in a war in Iraq that Russia would not have invaded Georgia. This is another example of the republican mishandling of our international policies.

I will recommend a couple of sophisticated whodunnits. The Secret History by Donna Tartt and Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. Another book I liked in recent days is an art fraud mystery entitled The Forgery of Venus by Michael Gruber.

I share your perspective on deregulation. The savings and loan mess went back to the Reagan Administration and the resulting deregulation resulted in the American taxpayer bailing out the banks. I was in Texas at the time and the number of insolvent banks were legion. I share your perspective on Phil Gramm, he is only out to fill the pockets of himself and his cronies.

I would go with the Quicken idea. I am not using the program now but it is very good with budgets etc. It is also easy to use.

I paid 4.06 here in Toledo on Sunday. On Saturday they were 4.14 per gallon. I drive a Van and have had it parked for a week.

I just think Hillary would do about anything to be the next President. I applaud Obama for quietly following the rules on the Florida and Michigan thing. I think we will have to see how the balance of the race goes and how the super delegates vote to end this thing. Hillary has also alleged gender bias during the race, I just do not see it.

Excellent article. I was dumbfounded when I heard McCain make this statement in Denver regarding going to war over oil. The other thing I find interesting in McCain's latest statements regarding the Iraq war regards his timetable for bringing US Troops home. What is the magic date of 2013 have going for it? The Republicans are selling us bunk that no one else is qualified to make the judgments of when to bring the troops home but them. What hog wash.

I think Charlie Crist would be the logical choice. I think he has a very professional demeanor and is of course from Florida. I will add that I am not a McCain supporter. I just think it would be an interesting choice.

Good article. In my opinion the clerks are being paid to render a service on behalf of the government, that is granting a marriage license, that is what their jobs require. On the other hand if their job descriptions do not require them to participate in the marriage ceremony, they should not have to. It depends on how the job is structured.
