Actually, Cooper's death was one of those tragic things of war....
to borrow from a colloquial phrase...

"Shrapnel Happens"

It is one of the most random, and scariest parts of war. That odd piece of metal flying at hundred of miles an hour that happens to find the one person whose time was up. No rhyme or reason..

When I ran a Mess...excuse me...Dining Facility...I actually had a sergeant who walked around with a ruler to measure peoples shorts and haircuts at meal time.....now that I think about it....it did seem to spend a lot of time following the young ladies soldiers and airchicks around the dining hall with that ruler....
