I just discovered your posts tonight. It's a good, solid end to my year.

At one point in my life I wondered why I failed so often. It took a long time to realize it was because I often tried innovative things that were totally outside my zone, not just my comfort zone. Sometimes I learned more than others but each time wasn't exciting.

It's annoying to see sprinklers like the one at the local Wal-Mart who will be going off during a rainy week.
People in my neighborhood are at least getting better. One neighbor who would water so that the run off would go down our block and the next hasn't overwatered all summer.

Even as a kid, I'd shudder when I read in a book where someone married a cousin. I only had one cousin that I'd even have considered out of 30 or so males. (as I've aged, I realize I was totally right about that, too)

The Jewish admonition to keep the family lines going would certain put a lot of pressure on any bride to have a son quickly.

Since I don't have a sister, I tried to figure out if I'd date the ex of my best friend of 34 years. Putting aside that we have totally different tastes in men, I'd have to say it would depend totally on the break up and their present feelings for each other. You don't want the holidays to be tense with the mixture.
A good catch for one of us might not work for the other. Different goals, tastes, activity levels and such make siblings need relationships of their own.
At the same time, I wouldn't mind my bff dating any of the men I have. In fact, several of them would be a huge improvement over the ones she's chosen.

It definitely helps to have someone there by your side. The doctor gave instructions to my mother while I was still out. She relayed it to the nurse who completely refused to do it. We both insisted and she got another nurse to do the simple act.
You have to be constantly alert in the hospital. The staff is so used to everything being weird that they don't notice when common sense dictates something else. Even my doctor wanted to take out the catheter before I was able to stand. He was giving instructions about my nausea but didn't remember that if I couldn't walk I'd just be wetting the bed without the catheter.

Well written post.
I've tried to avoid all this, but the comparison to Charlie Sheen, who won't suffer publicly for threatening to have his wife killed or holding a knife on her and Tiger Woods' multiple affairs is interesting. One loses millions, the other we accept. Go figure.

I think it's like when people say "we'll get together for lunch" in that they may mean it at the time, but it's too much trouble to actually do anything about it.
I have a friend who calls me less than once a year. It's clear when I call that she enjoys talking to me and we'll go to lunch afterwards, but she rarely makes that first move. I call her infrequently because of it, but don't want to let her go. So I call her a few times a year.

I think it's because sometimes it works. When the battery is low on power, sometimes multiple punches will help.
I don't get to touch the remote very often, so this isn't something I have much experience with.

I thought it snowed in Wichita Falls regularly enough for the folks to handle it well.

I'd go nuts 6 days without mail, too. We went two days last month and I wasn't sure what had happened. (the next day our mailbox was totally full)

I'm not sure that 1 drink per hour will prevent arrest for everyone. Small petite women and people with slow metabolisms may still blow over a .08 which seems to be a popular legal limit.
Also, in Texas, professional drivers are arrested for .05, even if in their own personal vehicles and not at work. This may be true of other states as well.
