That first year after Bush was elected, whatever plan Bush might have had was sidetracked to making us secure again. We were attacked and a lot of people died and we lived in fear - taping up our homes for fear of chemical and germ warfare, not knowing what might blow up next. That threat is still there, but we feel secure. I sold my house for a large profit last year - even after taking out an equity loan. Despite war being declared on us and bombing right on our own land! That sure wouldn't have happened during the Clinton regime where they were upping taxes to turn us into a Socialistic country and selling us out to the Chinese. Bush's tax measures are working - we have to give him credit for that.
I'm not saying President Bush was the best president - I think he was pushed into office by the Republicans because of his father and I think he doesn't understand how much our society has changed - how bitter and angry people are at being jerked around and lied to by PROFESSIONAL politicians. But I do think I'm glad Bush was president in handling that intial attack. He is stodgy and rather slow to react but quick to act and that prevented an all out war on our OWN LAND. That's worth a whole lot in my books. If he did nothing else in all of his eight years - taking the war elsewhere and bringing our economic outlook up was worth it.
I think the appeal Obama has is that he doesn't have enough experience to come across as a professional politician and that's what people want.
Clinton is scary because we don't really know what her personal agenda is, but we do know she has one and she is tough enough and has such a total disregard of human life (i.e. Terry Schiavo)and the traditional American way that she will sacrifice anything, but herself, to get what she wants.
No, I do not want to be socialistic or I would move to England, Canada or Sweden or something. I do not want a one world government or other countries telling us what to do or what to believe. I want to be an American and I want other countries to leave us alone and quit trying to make us into one of them. Diversity is good - why do we all have to be clones? I spoke with a Norwegian friend the other day and she has been so indoctrinated AGAINST America - when she doesn't even understand the issues here. The Europeans think our use of such huge cars is horrible - but they really don't visualize how all of Europe can fit into one of our States - and that's just one issue. There are dozens of them.
No, I don't like things in this country either, but just like Nakita was pointing out - you can't judge from the outside. Those other countries want to bomb the hell out of us and bring us down, accusing us of being violent and wanting to dominate the world - how hypocritical is that? They just want to hate us and see us fail - just like so many do with Microsoft - Bring down the big guy so we don't seem so small.
