You mentioned that some of your pupils may have signed up for help just for companionship -- I do think some people of all ages do this. It can be hard for the tutor / helper / technician, though. Families and friends, though well-intentioned, may be a real block to progress.

I will say, though, that most of my senior computer clients are very interested in what we are doing and are often excellent students.

I suspect there are wood workers who would make use of a draw knife. I haven't used one for years, but did when woodworking with my grandfather.

Moccasins are great for some uses. I've always had Minnetonka when I bought them (made a few pair).

I should probably get the Wonder shower for my aunt and uncle. They have to haul water up a hill to their cabin for showers.

I've used both manual and electric hedge trimmers -- both scare me, but the electric is worse.

$5 each is a great price on grab bars. THey sure do come in handy.

Thank you for mentioning the entire speech and expounding on the role of context, Dorothy. There is so much propaganda circling about based on excerpts, that everyone is ending up sullied in some way.

If a church runs an exercise program onsite for which it charges admission, and that admission charge exceeds the cost of the activity, that is considered income and is taxable -- not because it is a church, but because it is not a specifically religious activity. If a church holds meetings to train people in religious thought, and charges admission to defray cost, the net income applied to the budget of the church remains "on task" as religious activity.

This is what courts have held regarding taxation for facility use or sales on premise. It is reasonable.

What is not reasonable is churches assuming that any activity in which they choose to engage is "religious" (I think of selling coffee so people can have a beverage while they "fellowship", etc). Some of these things should be subject to tax, be it sales tax or contribution to income tax on non-religious activities/income.

One of the great things about Dollar General is that it accepts manufacturer coupons (most of the Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, etc don't).

I understand that paperwork a bit. My mother was an accountant, so she has done most of their financial work. Beginning 3 years ago, I'd had to intervene with "pieces". Finally, today, I have a friend who is an accountant setting up Quicken so we can enter 2009 and just print reports from now on with all information. It will not show the activities you mentioned, but it will break out income and expenses (including deductible) much more easily. I expect I will be doing the bill pay, etc. beginning sometime next year, so this will also make it easy to do this online.

While love and caring says we do these things, make sure you get some time for YOU as well. It may seem like one more thing to fit in, but when my father was very ill some good friends got me away on occasion ... they knew, and I benefited, from the adage that "I have to be well to help someone else".

Treat yourself to something for getting this done, friend!

Bush43 elected not to be a signatory to the International Court -- I suspect, in part, to say his administration was not subject to jurisdiction at the Hague.

It does take time to make changes in things as convoluted as Gitmo and the "non-Geneva" status the US claimed on the detainees. It may not be closed by January, but I do believe Obama will get it closed. This does not erase past injustices, but it will bring resolution to the situation.

I hope the world takes a good look at what happened here, when it is resolved, and comes up with some language to help everyone understand requisite definitions when it comes to non-nationally-identified combatants. It would seem this will be an escalating issue in the years to come.

I suppose it boils down to, was he unhappy he had to help you, unhappy you went, or unhappy he was teased? We can't look back, only forward.

And this leads to another problem ... half-reading a response and reacting to it on that basis.

That seems to be how information is reported too, so it is not always a problem with the readers. Oh, to have and easier time getting complete information .............
