They wrote back and apologized, saying they would be frustrated as well. They are forwarding it on to management and sending us a certificate for a free night at any of their hotels.

I've never mixed outmeal in with meat. Is it good? Do you use the quick-cooking oats and cook them first before you add them in?

We know there are a lot of other CVS's in the area, and we are going to try to find another one. I agree, though, and I used to love CVS, but in my mind the level of respect I had for the store went down when I found out they did that. I do understand from a business perspective, in theory, but personally it was a bit of a sting.
We do live in the resort area, where most 'communities' are vacation rentals and hotels. I doubt many of the customers even notice.

Ooooh! That sounds good! I haven't checked to see if the mint chocolate chip icecream is gluten free yet. It used to be my favorite.

I think the CVS next to Universal was the 'other one' in this area that he was talking about. We are 5 miles from Universal Studios in Orlando, 3 miles from Disney, and 3 from Seaworld . . . maybe less.

Thank you!! We are Gluten-free, so the restaurants aren't much of an option. BUT - my husband has a bad knee and was released from mobilization orders because of it. He has a cane that he keeps in our truck but it's inconvenient. The folding one would be better to keep in the truck and have his other one stay at home. I called our local Sam's club and they still have canes left, so I'm bringing him in to get it. :)

I really feel your pain, not just because of some problems with my own health and not having insurance, but with the diabetes. My sister has type 1 diabetes, she's 28 and was diagnosed when she was 11. My 17 year old brother was just admitted to the hospital and found out he had type 1 diabetes last week as well.

That said, and just having paid off over $30,000 in medical bills accrued from just the past 4 years, I still do not agree with the 'public option' in this 'healthcare reform'. Don't think it will be cheaper. Throw in Government administrative costs, less pay for doctors which kills motivation (think you have a tough time with doctors now?), less face time, certain procedures and medications that they won't cover, etc etc. We may need some sort of health care 'reform' but not by the Government acting as an insurance agent.

Not only that, but I believe the more the Government steps in and tries to get involved, the less personal 'help' really is. The less neighbors help each other out because they rely on the Government to do it. I know when my cousin was 3 years old and diagnosed with brain cancer, and my aunt and uncle almost lost their house, that the community pulled together to pay the medical bills and keep them floating. He passed away, but it was that bond that blessed not only the givers, but the ones receiving it. There are still people out there who care - but who will be able to help if 50% of their income is going to taxes to cover everyone else?

I have Crohn's Disease, Celiac Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a host of other things (Pancreatitis, ovarian cysts, etc). I am 25 years old and I had a flare that required steroids this past summer, and a month later I flared up again . . . still sick because I just moved and can't get to a doctor right now, but which I know will require steroids again. I have to have Colonoscopies every year, but under this 'health care reform' they want to limit them because only a certain percent show up with any abnormalities? When you catch cancer early with Colonoscopies you have about a 90% chance of survival. If you catch it late? Too bad. I'd rather pay to know that I have the OPTION to get the treatment I need, instead of relying on what they say I need.

I am covered under the VA with my health now, after being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease (the first of my autoimmune diseases) in the Navy and being discharged. 3 years later I found out I was eligible to receive care. My husband and I still pay $600/month for health insurance to help them offset the costs so other veterans can get the same care even if they are not as disabled.

Wow . . . I'm really rambling. It's late. :)


I'm sorry you are having a difficult time with your diabetes. I sincerely hope you are able to get it under control. Thank God it's type 2 and the insulin could be temporary.

We saw them in concert back in June 2008 up in Fort Drum when my husband, Nic, still worked with the Army.
