There entry fees are for reading fees and collected for prize monies and expenses to operate this dual poetry and writing competition. All prize winners have received their respective prizes. Some even publish their good news online for the world to see. Yes, it pays to be a winner.! And if you so choose to enter the contest, I will be eagerly looking forward to having your participation. This is a very good idea! I may be walking in the rain and see youth may have discarded a book from one of the local schools here in this big city of Chicago. I will pick up the book even in the rain and keep it. Maybe someday I can pass it to a child who may benefit from it's use. To keep precious works from becoming trash is a great idea. Thanks Austin!

Thanks Kathryn! I hope you 've been doing fine. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a great story. I like the way that old un-enlightened ways of thinking andl living where broken down and changed by children who seemed to be stronger than the adults. Beatiful. Take care.

I think you are an excellent writer. Your thoughts are clear and concise. You have poise and great cohesion. Focused. It seems that I can hear the author's voice which is yours through this piece. To me that is very good writing. Something I seek to achieve by making steady progress. Keep writing to your heart is content. Interesting how you got started at Gather.

This poem is crisp and refreshing, Jim, like the newly dry cleaned, pressed and serviceable soldier's uniform. I reminds me that sometimes I am a bit of a perfectionist and I like to have a clear mind and conscience when starting on a work of importance or value to me. Therefore, my mind must be open and willing to use worn down tools and old materials to restore or build something that is new.

Beautiful poem and well written too. It displays a piece of time, humanity, technology and nature all taking a place in day in modern life on a Sunday. Your use of imagery is simple but powerful. Sensing the noise of children about the house, the cats' meows and wanting attention. Especially enjoy the people voices, visions, sharing kind, insightful words. Fresh air, boulders, hiking gear, camera. The Gift of just another day. Not worrying about yesterday or tomorrow. I find a kinda serenity and joy while reading this poem.

I really enjoy this poem because it personifies Taffy and makes me think, just maybe Taffy really is thinking about making it in film. Life is full of surprises. However it is the suggestions that Taffy's movements have intelligently designed decisive reasoning. and to top it off Taffy can dream. Beautifully written Jim.
