I liked the tone of this narrator very much - aloof, distant, yet immediate. It's a tone that for me works well in describing the end of the world scenario. Now to the characters...

Good for you for bringing this book to our attention. I'll look for it. It still amazes me that fundamentalism is still so powerful, and gaining ground all over the world in so many different religions. Sadly, it appears to be a component primarily of the male ego.
