By "spirituality" I mean understanding male and female energies as a universal polarity, about an inner journey that integrates the masculine and feminine parts of themselves. In Chinese traditions they do talk of yin-yang, Judeo-Christian teachings say that God created humanity as a self-image, male and female... Other spiritual traditions have much more to say on this, religion does inform this spiritual journey.

Accept the natural, biological differences, but also let's grow and develop, (not necessarily "change" because the scientist doesn't like the word "change" and I'm OK with that).

I very much disagree with her position of putting men in "male jobs" and women in "female jobs." She would have thrived in the Soviet system...

She looks at the biology and somewhat at socialization... She says that you cannot change a man into a woman, and a woman into a man... But she's not acknowledging the internal balancing that can take place, she's not taking into consideration spirituality (and by this I do not mean religion).

Correctomundo! I'm listening about the "very male" woman CEO of HP... and how neither male or female is "good" or "bad" or superior to the other. It's all about balance. I like that quote, "Gender is irrelevant."

I think that we're talking about the male and female inside each of us, and which one is more developed ("stronger") regardless of our gender. In my case, most of the bosses or clients (today I freelance) I've had in my life have been women, and have been better than the males. And I feel that this is due to a female connection we shared. I also connected very well with male bosses/clients with a strong female side, and also did not connect well with female bosses with strong male tendencies.

I'm talking about a female side of us having stronger communication, cooperation, interdependence, relationship, intuitive tendencies, and the male side of us being more competitive, direct, literal, logical, assertive, decisive...

I believe all of the above is positive when balanced, and our consideration of a "good" boss depends on the chemistry we find with the person.

We don't know our loved ones completely, I agree with Peter above, many barely know themselves. Relationships are dynamic, and so are personalities and characters. I am a different person today from whom I was yesterday. In cultural anthropology, we talk about a conversation that one person is having internally, with themselves, and how this can be categorized as a "cross-cultural" conversation, since there can be enough change during the course of the conversation for cultural values to change, to shift...

I think that your question points to something I could describe as a "problem:" That of wanting certainty when or where it doesn't belong, when or where it can't exist. Utopian idealism?

"Trust" is the concept here, I think. Some won't trust the most "trustworthy" individual, to the point of bordering paranoia, while others will trust the criminally insane.

Long way to answer your question with a "No" eh? And how we know that we don't know our loved ones completely? Because it's impossible.
