Oh, I see. Well have fun with the dogs this weekend then enjoy Christmas with the human side of the family at your daughter's in a few weeks. Hard to believe Christmas is so near! My birthday is on the 22nd.

From many of your posts and even more so now, Barbara, I felt like you and I were soul mates. I've suffered with Major Depression most of my life, but there have been intermittent periods of sunshine too. I'm so sorry to hear about your accident and am so thankful for the surgeons and your own self-determination to mend because you have been a ray of sunshine in my life. I have been so blessed to know you, Barbara.

You got that right. You have to make it happen. I also quit smoking and it was definitely not a walk in the park. I used Nicorette Gum and Wellbutrin which is an antidepressant that is often prescribed for smoking cessation. Those first few days were very, very hard despite all my quit smoking aids. I even kept a journal of my experience which I eventually self-published for my sons to hopefully keep them from smoking. Smoking caused me COPD(Emphysema) and now I am on oxygen 24/7. I can no longer tolerate the scent of tobacco smoke due to the COPD which I think is a good thing--I don't think I could ever smoke again even if I wanted to. I've been smoke free for about 8 years now and if I "the I love smoking, I'll never quit" person can quit there is hope for others.

I have always felt from your articles that you are one of those "can do" kind of people and I salute you. How wonderful to be able to help your sister fufill her dream. I ponder on which course my own two sisters would take with me if I had such a dream?

Great read, Barbara. The hands can say so much about a person I think. My once slender hands are now pudgy from too much good eating and dry from too much dish washing and not enough hand lotion I dare say! LOL!
