Many times, the question is, "Is this a romance novel or a literary novel?" I consider my story a literary romance novel in the vain of "Casablanca" or "To Have and Have Not", or even "Forest Gump. There is little heaving of breasts and long swords with overly muscular men with longish hair peering deeply into a woman's eyes however. I wrote this as a love story—a romance between people and their lives giving the story meaning to men and women. To me a romance novel is the exploration of how people, who have the potential to love fully, find each other, conquering whatever stands between them will come to see there is love and there is hope. It is a depiction of their dreams and values, overcoming circumstances and obstacles. In this story love matters, people matter, relationships matter, and people who love each other can live an adventurous, successful life. Personally, I believe this is a real romance novel, and one you will not soon forget.

I just hope the judges like the story well enough for it to get to the finals. ;-)

I also heard the movie "September Dawn" was not very good. I do however really appreciate your sharing this. I find it ironic -- the 9/11 date.

Thank you all for the encouraging comments. I appreciate the feedback from such a talented group of people.

Kathryn -- As the chapters progress, the dialogue becomes far more advanced as the characters, a number of them, develop. I tried to focus the first chapter for back story purpose, however I am considering expanding, and probably splitting the chapters. Overall, there is enough of a story to create another five chapters out of this one. In truth, I could probably expand on the entire storyline and create a series.
