Actually, all the theaters around here WERE open on Christmas Day. My friend, Char, was going to a movie at the Valley theater. The ones in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls had packed parking lots when we went by as did the one at the Valley Mall.

Reg went to a movie on Christmas Eve with his grandkids and said the place was packed then too.

I bought that angel topper years ago for Shan. Then when she moved around, it came to my house and I've kept it! Every Christmas we joke about the angel that I "stole" from her.

I'm in the US and retired early this year. I've been on COBRA since Oct of 2008. What a pain! Originally it cost $470 a MONTH to keep up my medical and dental. I am pretty healthy and have only been to the doctor 3 times this year, had lab twice, then needed 2 x-rays. I had a physical in Nov and the expenses were denied by my insurance as I'd already exceeded my "allowed" amount for preventative care. Turns out they only allow $300 a year for that and it costs that much to get in the door!!

Then to top it off, I got a notice yesterday that starting Jan 1st, the cost has increased by $100 a month!! I figure they paid out less than $1000 in all of 2009 for me.

This COBRA company mails out the notices at varying times each month. Right now they have settled on mailing them out on the 20th of the month from Tenn and I'm in WA State so it takes 3-4 days to get here. Then the payment is due on the 1st. They do give you a grace period til the end of the following month but if you are a day late then your insurance is cancelled with no option of reinstatement. Some months, they just haven't sent out a statement at all due to "a glitch". I think they WANT people to not make their payments so they can be dropped.

I worked in health care as an RN for 36 yrs. I always had good health insurance until the last year when our hospital was bought out by a for profit company. Medicare may not be much but I will be glad to be rid of this COBRA company by 2011.

I agree with you. Last year, I had several $25 cards that I used for Christmas gifts. This year since the first of June, I've earned exactly ONE $25 card. Right now I have 838 points so quite a ways from another $25 card.

I'm spending a lot less time here than I used to do. But I do try to check in every so often and read things, look at pictures, etc.

Hope you stay safe and warm. We had a bad ice storm here in the mid 90's. I hope never to experience that again.

I just love the lighthouses. Can you imagine living in one? I just wouldn't like the ones that have a foghorn blaring every few minutes.

You are probably right. I was there in August and it was too early for the pumpkins to be waiting yet.

In fact, I don't recall seeing any pumpkins GROWING there.

Great picture. I haven't even tried to take Christmas light photos as I'm quite sure they wouldn't turn out.
