Fantastic article Dexter! My Dad told me the same exact thing..."go there, do whatcha gotta do and get the hell home."

I also seem something magical a few years ago while working in our local county Vet's Office (staff included two people, the officer and myself:). The Vet's would come in, do their business and then stand around and visit with each other. When I first started they didn't pay much attention to me but, as time went by they included me in their conversations. Sometimes, they'd be alone and just wanted to talk, visit, tell war stories etc. I'd listen, listen and listen some more, never adding much. Feeling guilty about this I went to the Vet's Officer, explained, saying I feel like was NOT doing my job!! He smiled at me, chuckled and said, "Lynn, don't you realize that IS part of ur job? If these guys wanna talk, let'im talk." Its hard to describe the feeling in that place...complete comraderie. It was GREAT.

Ohhh yes, cars!! We girls had it all figured out...the ugly guys drove classy cars and the cute boys drove clunkers?? My brothers all had clunkers, which they drove to school, mostly because they always had basketball, football or baseball practice. There were no late buses in those days...

I'll have to get out my family tree book, look for a Lois Berg. Was she good lookin'? If she was, she HAD to be a relative.

Don't think I'll be there in February but, we're headed up there for Turkey Dad....barring any blizzards. ;)

Regarding the gossip, I was guilty of "malicious mischief with the intent to gawk" too....;)

Lois Berg?? My gosh, my maiden name was BERG!! LOL!! If ya wouldn't have dumped that poor girl we may have ended up related...hahaha :)

I remember the milkman, the egg man, the Schwan's man, Morrie the gas man who filled my Daddy''s gas tanks (farmer) and gave us free Tootsie Rolls. ALSO, going into town on Thursday nights when the stores were open and then sittin' on the street corner waitin' for a neighbor to pass by so ya could gossip :)

That's the thing I'm most afraid of if we go back to MN....."too cool". LOL!! In all seriousness, I've been makin' those phone calls to my Rep and Senators, if healthcare reform goes, so do we!! ;)
