Our form of "capitalism" is broken, and until it is scrapped for a new version we will all be victims to some degree.

The process has to start by taking back "their" government - you know, the one that used to be, at least partly, "our" government. This would require a complete amputation of our money-based system which, in turn, might call for a whole new cadre of politicians and Supreme Court Justices. Not a likely scenario and , definitely one that will take many decades to realize. In the end, it may be accomplished through a revolution...

But, some day, it will be done...

When you refer to the "wealthy," you might as well call them the "capitalists" they are - the ones that have taken over our political process, robbed us of our job security and driven us from our homes - yes, and killed many of us in various subtle ways...

When General McChrystal was broadcasting his opinions around the world he was asked during a question and answer session in London that if he got the troops he wanted how long would it take to see positive results.

Given that you had 59 comments with the 7,000 hits, it would appear that there was a flood of interest from outside the Gather family. This is not to detract from your accomplishment in any way, in fact it is most benificial for Gather to have outsiders view our articles.

But it is very intriguing to try to figure out exactly how you accomplished this.

I certainly don't expect you to reveal your secret but you can bet I'll be looking closely at your forthcoming publications...

A very interesting article, K.K.

After Baxter's drug, heparin, killed my son six years ago we read all the research we could find and discovered that what he had, heparin induced thrombocytopenia, otherwise known as HIT, an allergic reaction to the drug, kills 60,000 people per year and another 18,000 have to have a limb, usually a leg, amputated. That's every year.

It must be one of the medical field's dirtiest little secrets. It is almost certain that all of us have been or will be exposed to heparin, which is an anti-clotting drug that for some mysterious reason is the first choice of most surgeons, although the hospital in which Eddie died, Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital in Boston changed its policy of using it as a result of his death. If you have an IV, the chances are the tubing will be lined with heparin. If you have an operation, you will likely be injected with a large dose of heparin.

The paradox of HIT is that it actually causes clots instead of eliminating them. And, unless the medical staff is on its toes and immediately recognizes the condition from blood tests, it often prescribes more heparin because of the clots. That's what happened in Eddie's case and in many many others. It was a very painful death that Eddie had that took place over 17 days.

Sorry to get a little bit off topic here, but your article, combined with what we've learned, convinces me that there is something funny going on at Baxter, and it's actually far from funny.

They should be sued and investigated... There is something wrong....I'm pretty good at smelling a rat and I'm catching a big time odor here.

That's a good question, Mary, and don't forget Barbados, where a little three story building houses the headquarters of 1,400 companies. But the answer to your question is elusive, as it's designed to be...

Your point is a good one, though....When the Dow was heading down to the 6500 territory the treasury and the Fed were shoveling out money like a stoker on the train climbing Mt. Washington.

And then - surprise - as the market soared, fueled by what had been public money, Goldman Sachs came up with record earnings and didn't even give the taxpayers a thank you. Same with many others in the financial sector. And, as if this wasn't enough heaven for them the Fed decided they could borrow money at near zero to zero interest and they expressed their appreciation by jacking up the interest rates they charged the very same public that funded their bonanza in the first place.

I'd say it looks like Obama carried out his orders from the Bilderberg Group quite well...

Don't take me too seriously on this one, Jeannie, but seriously, no one knows where "turncoat" (thanks, Elsie) Lieberman will be tomorrow, let alone in 2012...

And Elsie, of course the GOP doesn't want her. If she ends up with any influence, she'll be dragging the party further from big middle....but, then again, what is and who is the Republican party these days?...
