I have encountered many rejections of my work. Some people think it is not nitty gritty enough, some people think it needs more polish. I'm learning to look beyond editors needs to pigeon hole my work and move on. As Cyril Connolly once said, “Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.”

I think it was another case of "when the pupil is ready, the teacher appears." I was really ready to be honest with my emotions, though I must admit, I am still not ready to deal with the people and situations. But knowing what the emotions were asking, changes how I think about the people. It separates the two and lets me see that the emotions were simply waiting for someone/something to come along to use as the object lesson.

That takes the sting out of my feelings for the people and puts it in a better perspective. It's let me distance myself so that I can just address what the people need from how I feel about that.

Oh gosh. This has turned into a mini self psych-analysis and way too much information for all of you to read. :)

See, I'm writing this without any tears whatsoever.

I can substantiate that. When I went through menopause, I lost all hormonally induced highs and lows for a year or so. That was very disconcerting.

Thanks John The form itself is pretty thorough, and it will probably get approved, if the past is any indication. It did specify that I was supposed to fill it out myself, but good idea. I have no idea where to go about finding either a social worker or occupational therapist, but I'll keep that in mind :)

Thanks Elsie! I too feel fortunate! I spent several months in the hospital a few years back and my roommate was a twentysomething mother of two who got Strep that went into her muscles. She ended up losing both legs below her knees. Ever since then, I have been diligent about counting my blessings.
