It's 20 degrees here and I'm glad as hell to be getting out of here. Jill, we've been watching weather and delayed leaving this morning until they got most of the accidents cleared off. We only have a couple of inches of snow, and the freeways should be clear. I'll check back in if possible when we get to Knoxville tonight, because I know my friends worry (and that's only ONE of the things I love about you all!)

Sending more hugs to Lisa and Dana and family, because you can never have too many. Later, my dears.

Damn, damn, damn. Oh Lisa and Dana, I'm so very sorry to hear this. And I'm very glad you were there with him. I'm sending both of you enormous virtual hugs, and prayers for peace for both of you and your entire family. I'm a writer and am at a loss for words. Tears here.

And Judi, Libby McCord sends greetings. Says she helped hook you up with someone who spoke Greek? I was just invited to join the historical writers sub-set of my local RWA chapter, and am "meeting" all of them. She's one. I'm having a blast connecting to folks who totally "get" historicals. Libby writes mid-17th century France, an utterly ripe era for fun IMHO. Hmmm....wheels turning...NO! I already have two unfinished MSs! Although one could totally be moved to another era and place...

And Jill, what a great day! And there is nothing so lovely as empty counter space (and Dog Sleds!) And lucky you to have the day off! I talked to old co-workers. They ALWAYS got an extra day at Christmas, or sometimes a choice of either Christmas eve or New Year's eve. This year? They let them leave at 1:00 on Christmas Eve. That's it. No extra time at all. So totally enjoy having the day off!

So, what was the present you got? Can you tell her you used it/ate it/ran over it with the car/it blew out the window on the way home? Are you close enough to the hostess to tell her you're not giving it back and/or to stuff it? Have you talked it over with Linda? And making you give away your presents IS abusive. Sorry, that may not be a popular opinion, but it was YOUR present, not your mother's.

Nice hubs, Judi. I'm thinking I'm going to need a bottle of Baily's for New Years. For tonight, I'll stick with the bourbon. And you can have the snow (blowing really hard in Judi's direction)!

Laurie, such a mess. Give it back and then go find something exactly like it for yourself, since you really liked it.

Wendy, no worries on the forgetting of things (though I know there must be something). Remember, I'm a project manager and I love lists and spreadsheets.

So, the car is all packed, the tree put away, and I'm just relaxing. I glance up to see snow coming down fast and furious and run to check the weather. It's been clear for days. The ground was clear, we has sun today, etc. Sure enough, a "surprise" winter storm is passing through and we'll get an inch or two tonight. Not horrible, and I guess it's a proper send off, but still, I was hoping to head out in the morning in clear weather. I TOLD hubs we should have planned on leaving today, if for no other reason than to miss the Monday morning traffic jams. And now snow on top of it. With luck, lots of people took the week off and this will be gone by morning.

Whatever it is, it doesn't show up since we're not connected, but I'm guessing she had a baby on Christmas. I always feel sorry for those kids, but she's in good company. Jimmy Buffet's birthday is also Christmas.

Meatballs come in a nice bag from the restaurant supply store and Paul Newman's Sockarooni sauce is so close to my own, and it means dinner can be on the table in 20 minutes. LOL! Have fun!

Good morning all! And Judi, what an utterly perfect gift! LOL! Yes, we do need our tiaras! Which reminds me, I forgot to pack mine. One more thing to shove in some random corner of the car. Good luck with the editing. How nice to be getting so close to the finish line!

Rachael, how wonderful to see you! I spotted the baby pictures a few days ago. Drustan is such a little cutie! An utterly perfect Christmas present! So glad it was fun for all of you!

And Wendy, I keep forgetting to say how much I enjoyed your discussions of PP and Christmas. This is THE perfect age for little girls and Christmas, and she sounds like she was utterly adorable. Is she getting used to having a little brother now? And a lovely first Christmas for him as well!

Today is for taking down the tree and final house-cleaning (and stuffing tiaras in the car). Then early to bed for an early departure tomorrow. But first, some breakfast. Have a good one, folks!

No worries, Wanda. So far, the route looks like it will be pretty clear, mostly just rainy. We'll be heading through Kentucky, then Tennesee, then Georgia then Florida. It can get a little dicey down through the mountains in Tennesee, but the first time I drove it was at 3 AM in a driving, blinding rain, while hubs was snoring, and after that, it didn't much bother me. I used to drive rough back mountain roads in Central Pennsylvania (where Laurie is!) in much worse than that, and in a far smaller car. We've got a Buick. A big four-door Grandpa-sized Buick. As long as the trucks keep it between the lines, it's all good. And thank you for worrying. I'm far more worried about Jamie. Anybody know when she's heading back? The weather reports from that direction are pure evil!

YAY!!!! SOOOO happy and relieved to know this! And I'm betting the family is overjoyed as well. Be sure to give your wife a big hug from me! I've always maintained that sickness is harder on the caregiver, because they don't get any drugs! LOL! Rest and get better!
