Have you ever heard of a town in Michigan called Hell (yes, that really is its name)? It's outside of Ann Arbor, I think. I hear a lot of people like to forward their tax returns from there. Of course, I hope it's them owing you a thousand, but if it turns out you owe them money, maybe you could somehow forward it from Hell, MI!

Since Louis Grunewald is an ancestor of mine (great x3 grandfather), a lot of this is a result of my genealogy studies. I used to hate old buildings when I was young because I was just very naive and thought new was always better, but now I have to say admit that the old buildings have so much more character - they really are works of art. I have never heard of Hurst Castle - it sounds interesting, and therefore I'll have to look it up!

My great-great-great grandfather built this hotel (I've mentioned this before) so my family was especially happy to see it return. I would love to stay there over the holidays myself!

I like Garth Brooks' version of pretty much any Christmas song. I also love John Berry's version of O Holy Night. Also Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas series. I don't have a favorite song in the Christmas category so much as I have favorite versions of the songs. I guess if I had to pick, it would be a toss-up between O Holy Night, What Child is This? and Unto You This Night (which I have only heard on Garth Brooks' first Christmas album).

I have never been in a romantic relationship, so I do not have any exes, however, I can say that my mother's ex-husband (the man she was married to before my father) remains a dear friend of the family, and I have known other people who parted as good friends as well so I'm inclined to believe it is more common than a lot of people seem to think.

It sure looks like a moving experience. I have always held our troops in the deepest of admiration and meeting the survivors must have been a great honor - what wise and heroic figures they must have been. I would love to visit this beautiful memorial someday.

We usually get at least one decent-sized snowfall a year here in NC. The blizzard of 2000 and the ice storm of '02 were bad enough, so I am not sure if I could handle a Michigan winter (although you all probably a lot more equipped than we are!)

That's funny! I had a few teachers my senior year in high school who mimicked Austin Powers and Britney Spears (respectively) as a mechanism to prod students into giving money to charity (the school was sponsoring a kid for Make A Wish Foundation) and surprisingly it worked! But I never had a teacher do anything like this!

That sure is an amazing Christmas tree! I how the silver and blue ornaments are the ones that stand out most as I've always thought those colors looked lovely together.
