I'm glad someone else noticed the monkey/ape mistake.

I'm not sure this is what Gather is looking for in its SEO. It's thoughtfully done, everything is spelled and punctuated correctly, and far too long for the ADD demographic that seems to have overwhelmed the joint. (I'm back for the first time in a week and can only find three articles worth visiting.)

Well, it seems the same individual in question has been "warned" by "management" at least twice. This is not baseball. If you've attracted sufficient attention that "management" is moved to address a situation, you've really screwed up and have been given a break already. Two breaks is too much. It's also quite possible that the same individual has committed similar offenses on different people. Either way, that person was warned and should then be removed.

Once again, a well-run site would attract sufficient members to make up for any "clicks" it might lose from the problem ones. It would be less work than the PTB think it would, although I'm not sure what level of work would be deemed acceptable sometimes.

And once problem members are removed, this business of letting them come back to engage in the same behavior again -- which has occurred in two cases I can think of -- is absurd. Have some principles, for God's sake.

The problem seems to be this: Gather "PTB" are more concerned with maintaining clicks and memberships (including straw ones) than with enforcing their own terms of service. When an individual has committed more than one infraction of the TOS, as this person may or may not have done within the past few months, they should be removed. A site with minimal integrity would take this step, as well as the attitude that new and better members would replace them.

I've just got an interesting book, Street Gang, about how "Sesame Street" was created. Those folks were an interesting bunch of misfits, and if they did some of the things they showed in the '70s today, the New Prudism would have a field day.

No, I know what you mean. To be honest, it's because I don't feel like posting anything remotely important to me to a site like this, which encourages and rewards the mentally unstable and wants SEO crap from a bunch of its CEO's friends. I've left only the Gather-centric fluff and a few games, which is what this joint deserves. As for anything like actual writing, I'd rather it had an audience of no one than the bunch of defectives that are taking over this place.
