Interesting post Gibbs,

Those ah ha moments seem to have increased for me in the past couple of years. They have for my wife also. We say 'what are the chances?' Recently I looked at a pack of pictures from years ago and in it was a picture of my brother. It was and absolute perfect picture of him taken years past and he was the picture of health. I picked it out of all the others to show to my wife the contrast between his health then and now. An hour later we got a call that he had suffered a heart attack around that time. What are the chances?! He is doing well now. Another sister had a similar experience that day in telling a friend that of all her family she was afraid to get a call about said brother. She got the call.
Interesting and real connections sometimes just can not be explained.

A dad is never mentioned. As you say we do not have the information to make a reasoned opinion. Of course a parent would protect a child but we do not know the circumstances and cannot form hard opinions on emotion alone.

This is a wonderful story of Christmas past and present. A wonderful turn of events and a story which has only good outcomes is a treat. It reminded me of a Christmas long ago. I had not been out of the service for long and was still getting my bearings. I knew a family that needed a tree on Christmas Eve day. I knew of a tree seller who had shut down for the season already with some perfectly good trees still inside and enclosure. I hopped the fence and retreived the best of the rest. The remainder of the day and night was wondrous. A simple act the catylist. Thanks for the prodding and fine story.

#3 Please re-read the critical thinking on your so called 'death panels' in the original post.
#4 From what I have seen you keep your doctor. The only reason an employer would change coverage would be because of the new competition costing less.
#5 I believe that there will be oversight and corrections made to the process as some things work and others don't. It is the normal process. I know that there are fears of the unknown. The same things were said about unemployment and where would many be without it today.
#6 I could use some additional information on this one.
#7 The present catyclism was the result to the mismanagment of the past administration. You would think that the president would be given voice for perhaps a short time before interfering with every nuance of his policies with speculation and hearsay. Critical thinkers remember history so that it is not repeated and we can correct the mistakes of the past. That is what the president is trying to do. He inherited a 3.5 trillion deficit and that was without clear bookeeping.

Let me start with #1. If the government doesn't have oversight, who will police the Health Care System abuses which currently exist? For example we could end up with self checks such as the default-credit swaps which helped bring down the economy and start the recession (depression for many).
#2 I agree that it would affect everybody. It already is (Health Care). I spent a career as a Emergency Response 1st Responder and we used to call those who went to the emergency room without insurance the "Frequent Fliers." Those costs were passed down to everybody.
Uncertainty is a characteristic of the present system and capitalism in general.
Costs are uncertain.
Could you explain the reduced liberties?!
