I managed to add about five hundred words to Sketch. Better than nothing. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of words, but remember I'm just filling in description, and expanding on scenes already written. And I still have a full weekend to work on it. Yip!

Snowing here, too, Jamie *sigh* But I have a cozy (fake) fire going in my living room :-)

All my Christmas decorations are put away. Applause to the snowmen for all their fine work in December. They are now back living in their "other" house . Kitchen is clean, and now sporting its January look. BTW, my redecorating penchant can, and should, be blamed on my mother. When growing up, we didn't dare walk into a dark room and sit down, as the chair that used to be here would now be over there. :-) Plus, she made me the placemats of the month, which inspires me to mix the kitchen up each month. Now, if the Steelers would just make it to the play-offs, the January kitchen will be all the rage.

Time to put the pork and saurkraut on. A nap may be in order, too. And, later, I do hope to get some writing done.

Thanks, Pat. The red of the heater has more purple in it than my other reds, which are more a cherry red. But I guess that's okay, even for matchy matchy me. lol

And I didn't even know Beth entered the Golden Heart. But got a hunch anyway :-) Go, Beth, Go!

Likely, you won't really see the difference my furniture rearrangement made in my living room (it's hard to capture in photos). Nevertheless, here it is

I am making one resolution this year, and that is to dance/exercise three nights a week. Thru March. Only three days, and only thru March, because it's more exact and more realistic than saying "I'm going to exercise every day this year." Making my resolution a short-term goal helps me because I can actually count down the days. 3 months x 3 nights a week = 36. Shoot, I can exercise 36 times by the end of March. Once March ends, it will be spring, and I can make a walking resolution. I was doing sooo good with exercising until the time change. When we Fall forwarded, I fell onto the couch. LOL.

Like Jamie, I don't set "getting published" as a goal. Because it depends on others, the goal is to write/finish works and query them.

I'm going to make one Wombat prediction. This isn't saying other Wombats won't be published in 2010, but I predict the Wombat who will be newly published in 2010 will be....

*drum roll*

I set goals, but don't think of them as goals. I think of them as decisions you make happen (which, yeah, is called a goal, I guess. LOL) For instance, in 2007 I said I wanted to buy a house. By July, I bought a house. In March of this year, I said I wanted to go on a cruise. In September, I went on a cruise. I always associate the word "goal" with career aspirations, and since I never knew what I wanted to do when I grew up (really), when I'm asked if I'm a goal-setter, I automatically think no. But, in fact, this isn't the case. I do set goals, just not career-related ones. I've honestly always envied people who knew exactly what profession they wanted to go into. I never have, and at this age, guess I won't.

Yes, and though I don't get rich, I do make a little more money each year. Hey, maybe I should put a dollar bill next to the coins. Can't hurt :-)

Out from under the bookcase. No 911 call necessary. I had knocked my too-heavy to handle mirror off the wall before I posted earlier. It pulled the hurcules hook out of the wall too. But, ya know, I think I need something oval there anyway. Ha. How's that for optimism? And at least the mirror didn't break, and give me bad luck until 2016. So far, am loving the living room. It's amazing how rearranging a room can make a difference. I think the new arrangement makes the room look bigger. Kitchen's a mess, of course, because I piled much of the Christmas decorations in there for the time being. But I'll tackle that tomorrow. As well as post pictures.

My one New Year's Eve ritual is to place a quarter, dime, nickel, and penny on the windowsill as the new year rolls in. Supposed to bring you money. I also burn a bayberry candle on New Year's day for good luck (though some people say you're supposed to burn it on Christmas, when I originally heard this, I'd hear New Year's Day. So that's what I've always done.)

I was going to say something else, but am drawing a blank. I bet it was really profound :-)

My cute as can be electric stove/heater came, so I'm moving things around in my living room to see where it looks best. Of course, this first meant dismantling Christmas, which I've been SOO ready to do. I have stuff all over right now. I admit rearranging the furniture is odd on New Year's Eve, but I bet I'll have pictures to post tomorrow :-)

Back to it. Will read the thread later. If I don't check in later tonight or tomorrow, call 911. I'm probably stuck under a book case :-)

I'm here, Laurie, for the Dana interuptus. Someone had to. :-)

I have to work tomorrow *whine* Yeah, so what that I only work one day out of eleven, I'm still allowed to whine, right? Ha.

Going to bed soon. About an hour ago, I hit the wall. Or it hit me.

And, sadly, I hung out with Judi's friend procrastination and didn't pen a single word. But my laundry's done! Yeah, that's all I got. *shrug*
