Yes, she's a great author -- and she's written so many different types of things, from literary fiction to children's story books, young adult novels to non-fiction. Lots of good stuff. I look forward to seeing her at the Fitzgerald conference this fall!

Thanks for sharing that link. I love the idea of people collectively reading a novel. Nothing beats a communal experience, and the meeting of people who ordinarily wouldn't talk to one another sharing a passion!

Hello, everyone. Thanks for the comments.

BookExpo America 2009 in NYC was great! Heavier turnout than expected, despite the economic downturn. Lots of people there. Although it is an "industry" event, I know some people who attended as outsiders -- so that is an option if you're considering it for next year.

I'll issue a full report in a future post. In a nutshell, the Flightless Goose signing was a success, long line the entire time, even after we ran out of books!

Mariana, good to hear from you. We're trying to "do good" with the book, shelter daycare readings, books to children and libraries, etc. Even the message of the book is for a good cause.

Erin, the Catonsville Book Fest is only once a year ... but the Baltimore Book Fest is comingin September -- that's one to make!
