This seemed to be a difficult decision but in all truth, it really wasn't. I could not and would not want to live without my faith. That's the how and why I get up every morning; the how and why I put one foot in front of the other in my daily walk; and, the how and why I tuck myself into bed at night. It's really a member of a trio...hope, love and faith.

While Maddie's circumstances break my heart and I don't think I'll ever forget your story...she is most definitely a gift from God. I can only imagine how she touches everyone she meets and I'll bet everyone she touches is a better person for it. God bless you and your family Sarah...and may God give you and Maddie renewed strength as you face each day. Thank you so much for sharing your special little girl with us.

Thank you each and everyone for viewing my passion. As for being self-taught Deb, unless you count God as holding my brush then yes I am self taught. You see, I've had Parkinson's for 21 years and until I had to retire on disability in 2000 I couldn't do anything artistic. When God closes a doot He opens a window. FYI, I don't sell my work, I "pay them forward".

They say that hind sight is 20/20 and I have had the privilege of proving that "they" are right. (If anyone ever finds out who "they" is, please let me know.) My list is from the perspective of someone who worked 50 to 60 hour weeks for over 35 years and who in the year 2000 "retired" on disability. My list turns out to be a wish/been there done that list. I'm here to tell you that I'm so grateful and thankful for everything on the following list. Before the year 2000, I didn't have a clue what to wish for cause I didn't really take the time to find out what was out there.

Spend valuable time with my husband and daughter...getting to spend quality if not limited time with my son and his family who live 1500 miles away.

Found a good friend in myself and learned to enjoy my own company.

Taking time to pay attention to the everyday happenings of life such as cats meowing, dogs playing, birds chirping ...even crickets "cricketing". The best part of this is not feeling guilty for not doing somet hing "productive" during that time.

Meeting all kinds of people on the internet and learning what diversity is all about. Understanding how important it is to accept people for who they are.

Learning that not being in control is not a bad thing. That having someone you can trust and accepting their help along the way is not a sacrifice but rather a gift.

Seeing and listening to those around me rather than using my work as an excuse to not become involved in their lives.

Really observing God's gifts and being thankful for each day that I can enjoy them.

Finding that even though I spent all my life thinking I was totally without talent, that I can write, paint, work with photography and other miracles I have yet to discover.

The thing is...I could have had all of this and my work too if I'd only paid attention. I'm thankful that I'm paying attention now...it's never too late.

I'm not sure if this is what I was supposed to do, but it sure feels good to do it. Thanks for the opportunity to make my list of blessings. We all need to do that from time to time I reckon.

This is too cool...I was looking over hubby's shoulder the other night (he likes all these history channels...how to channels...how it is made channels) and he was watching how the "stretch" limo is made. I was amazed ... but after seeing that, this photo is believable.
