Wow, I'd never thought of having it with pasta but I don't see why it wouldn't be delicious. My recipe is also layered - I kind of like the corn tortillas, but the pasta sounds interesting - thanks Beverly!

Love the shot, my brother lives in Tucson so I've gotten a few pics of the Sonora as well on our visits to him. Also Casa Grande, there are some great old Saguaro there. We intend to retire to New Mexico sometime, hopefully in the not-too-distant future. (Meanwhile, we're patting ourselves on the back for toughing out another Minnesota winter - it's frigid here!)

Thanks for a nice, informative article, James - I just purchased a new camera that was released by Canon last fall, the EOS 50D. It's my second DSLR - I had only had automatic 35mm cameras until my first digital, and after two "regular" digitals I graduated to an Olympus E-330 two years ago. It was a big learning curve! It has lots of great qualities, and the maco lens is fantastic. But I was disappointed in virtually all of my low-light shots. With the Canon 50D, I'm a very happy camper even in low light. I haven't been on Gather much for the past year or so, but I'll have to post some pictures one of these days. And, you're right about holding the camera in your hands - I bought mine online, but did a lot of in-store research before making my purchase. I still have the Olympus, by the way, so I keep the macro lens on that and switch between wide angle and the 70-300 zoom for the Canon. I don't anticipate buying anything else for a long while!

Hey Trudy, ol' pal, thanks for stopping by! I haven't been on Gather for months - nice to know you're still checking my stuff. :-) Hope all is well with you! Gather seems to have changed a bit since I was on last. (I don't really hate using a tripod, but so often just don't bother with it.)

Thanks for your comments, Elizabeth - I agree, the New Mexican chiles are to be respected. Every year can be different in flavor and heat as well as the area! We live in Minnesota, so we most frequently order our chiles online. We've been buying from a website at www.dagiftbasket.com and have had great luck with their green chile as well as red dried pods. The shipping charges are horrible, of course, but still cheaper than a trip! When we do go to NM we bring back 100-150 pounds of the frozen green chile - it sounds like a lot, but we do go through it in a few months!
