Hi Peter, What a beautiful painting you posted on my site. To answer your question: yes painting by the water, on a river bank or on the shore of a lake, "in God's country" does refresh my spirtit. It takes everything I have to give to paint a portrait. Every portrait I paint is also a portrait of myself. It takes everything I have to give, body mind soul and spirit. So when a I finish a portrait commission and leave the studio and go outdoors somewhere to paint I get refreshed renewed and energized. Then when I go back to the studio I can be secluded with my work and give it all I have.

Hi, folks. Things are looking up here at my studio since last spring. I just finished a very profitable commissioned portrait painting. My schedule was grueling, working to meet a six week deadline. So the creative spirit in me is refreshed and this is a working studio again. Right now I'm working on three new portraits. It feels great, mixing paint, choosing just the right brushes, then cleaning the palette and the brushes after the paintng sessions. Like any work we do; creating artwork, and that's what it means artWORK, takes alot of energy: blood, sweat, and sometime "tears", but it's all worth it. JANICE AND JASMINE is in the past as of this week, and new paintings are in progress. Whew! bye for now

Kahlo seems to have made a name for herself riding on the coat tails of her famous artist husband Isn't this true of many well known artists in music, and theater as well? Show me an woman artist who went the distance for fame and fortune on her own artistic merits and I'll sit up and take notice. Admittedly, Kahlo's work is great, but where would she be in art history without her famous husband Diego Rivera?

Thank you so much for your appreciation of my artwork. As you can see there are problems storing artwork in the studio archives, two paintings in my archives are damaged. Can anyone give me some advice about restoration?

Hi, fellow artists. I think Gather is helping me meet my goals of sharing my artwork on the network. We have theopportunity to share our experiences as visual artists in the artworld and interacting with the public. Realizing that society as a whole "HO-HUMS" visual art. Visual art is the stepchild in the artworld. Much more value is place on the work of contempory musicians, and actors compared with the value place on the paintings, drawings, sculptures, fine art photos, stained glass, and even the work of a potter. Because we are undervalued and taken advantage of in the artworld, of course the public will do the same..... Yes whatever changes Gather makes is just fine with me. I will not complain about the windows of opportunity Gather has opened for me.

Friends and relatives seem not to understand, not only the years we were at the university studying to become a Fine Artist, even more to the point they have no idea about the "blood, sweat, and tears" (hard work) we put into each and every piece of artwork we create. They ignore the 'work' in the word artwork. Not only to we spend our time and energy in the process of creating art, we also give a piece of ourself in each painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.

Isn't Spring wonderful. We keep the windows open night and day,not needing the air conditioner or the furnace. The "singingest" and loudest bird in our yard is a tiny carolina wren. The best rest I get is the fifteen minutes I listen to the birds before I get out of bed. Oh yes, I was completely surprised by the many songs of a brown thrasher. Until I found it with binoculars I mistook it for a mockingbird.
