Most definitely. I agree 110%. Until the factionalization of American Society comes to a halt, and we ALL view each other as "Americans" as opposed to African, Irish, Italian, Asian, and so on - Americans", we will never be fighting fo rthe same cause, that being a better American, that would hopefully, in turn, lead to a better world.

Scotland and Ireland have both been under British, i.e., English control for centuries. As such, you do have folks who identify themsleves as "Scotch American" or "Irish American", but much like the Irish, as pointed out in this article, the Scottish were not considered "white", "Anglo", "free", and or "equal"under British law. Thus, William Wallace - You did see Braveheart, didn't you? Although exaggerated as only Hollywood can do, the premise is still based on the fact that the Scottish did fight for freedom against the British.

That said, have you helped anyone from the U.K. that hails from England call themselves "British American" or "English American"? That's a term that I have never heard, but would be interested to know if you might have heard it in your research.

Great article, and along the lines of Bill Mahr's comments with regards to the Catholic Church the other day, it's just another example of the left's superficial attempt to erase our "differences" by ironically classifying specific groups. It is amazing to me that certain liberal groups find it appropriate to bash what they consider to be "mainstream" groups and feel they are doing society a service, when in actuality these groups are hindering any chance for consensus and change by causing more divisions within society.

Great point. But one coudl still purchase other oils, such as canola oil, that is very beneficial and contains no partially hydrogenated oils, which are extremely harmful. Canola oil is a great alternative to olive oil at a lower cost. But even olive oil can be very affordable. Just depends on what brand you buy.

Simple: They are locked into the "I don't feel well, I'll go see my doctor and he'll prescibe me a solution" mindset. not to mention that we are bombarded daily with commercials touting relief for these ailments (tums, tum tum tum TUMMMMSSSS!!!)

It's really an unfortunate cycle we have created in the United States. We have gone away from local produce and home cooked meals. Everythign is mass produced fro convenience. Most families don't have time (or at least they think they don't) to think about their diet. With two income households, we pass each other at the breakfast table (if we even eat breakfast) and again at the dinner table. We really need to slow down and consider the benefits of getting back tot he basics. It really isn't as hard as most people think, and it woudl solve a ton of problems facing current society, such as health and environmental issues.

In Asian medicine, there are 5 elemental energies in our universe, as well as within our bodies. The elements are: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Each of these elements in turn is represented by a color: Green (Wood), Red (Fire), Yellow (Earth), White (Metal), and Black/Blue (Water). To achieve a balance of energy and nutrients, it is suggested to eat an item from each group every day. So, you could have a green nut with breakfast, a red fruit for a snack, a yellow vegetable at lunchtime, a white fruit for a midafternoon snack, and a black/blue fruit, grain, or vegetable at dinner.

Beans contain all sorts of beneficial nutrients, especialy powerful antioxidants that help prevent cancer. They also contain fat, but the good kind, which helps your body function and process essential vitamins and minerals. Without these fats, you can take all the vitamins and supplments in the world and your body will simply pass them through and not process them.

I generally divide beans into 5 groups based on color: Green (lentils and mung beans), Red (red lentils, kidney and other red beans), Yellow (garbanzos or chickpeas and butter beans), White (soy beans and white beans) and Black (black beans and navy beans). The same thing goes for nuts: Green (pistachios and pumpkin seeds), Red (pecans), Yellow (almonds and cashews), White (pine nuts and macadamias), Black (chestnuts, walnuts, black sesame seeds).

Wow! If Icoudl actually decide where I would like my taxes to be spent!!! Man, Could you imagine?????

Well, here goes:

I'd split it equally 4 ways:

1) Better Education
2) Better Health Care
3) Better Elderly Care
4) Better Border Security

Pretty simple...Obviously there are thousand of other worthy causes out there, these are just four that come to my mind pretty much instantaneously...

Great article. You know what's crazy about this situation? It seems everyone has forgotten the original "school massacre", long befor eColombine, long before VT. Has anyone every heard of Wayne Lo? (http://www.goneboy.com/reviews/nytimes.html) December 14, 1992, Taiwanese student goes on a rampage, killing 2 and injuring 4. Granted, it was on a smaller scale, but this is nothing new. It just seems we have forgotten about the past. And when you forget about history, it tends to repeat itself. On the other hand, if we overly publicize the criminal, he in turn becomes a celebrity. I liked the way the Wayne Lo case was handled-It happened, it was in the news and gone. Now, not only is this scumbag getting his 15 minutes of fame, he's become almost a celebrity. It's sickening.

I think it's important for all of us to get back to the basics. I think the wine you drink does have its benefits, but look for organic wines, such as from the Four Chimneys Organic wine in Upstate New York. They have a website and theri prices are reasonable (and the wine is good, too!) Check them out!

What are we afraid of? Crime. Disease. Gangs. Terrorists. Identity Theft. There's a few items for ya.

Brad, Immigraiton issues concern ALL illegals, not just Mexicans or Latinos. Too bad you think it concerns one group. It doesn't. An illegal is an illegal, I don't care where you came from.
