As someone who's a professional model/actress in the industry right now I high suggest looking at the website:

Your daughter is young, and this is a *very* critical industry that even a lot of adults can't handle the rejection from--and trust me, it comes in droves! She has to be prepared to get a lot of negative comments from people because that's just how it is. If she's lucky, they won't tell her anything, but she won't get any work either.

Modeling schools are a waste of time and money. Don't bother with them, the few people that do make it in them, would've made it without the "instruction". They approached me when I was 16, but my family just didn't have $1K to waste on something like that. Basically, anything with "school" attached to it, is a scam.

Anyone that guarantees you work, is a scam artist. If you're the right person for the job, you'll get it, there's never any guarantees. Beware of "agencies" that ask for a lot of money and can't explain where it's going to, tell you that you can *only* work with their photographers, and have a large roster of talent that isn't getting auditions/go-sees.

As someone mentioned you should send out plain polariods, but I'd start with LOCAL AGENCIES, as you'll have to fly to NYC if they want to see her. And then you'll have to move there if they want to sign her as they only represent local talent.

If she doesn't get signed, then she'll have to try to build her own portfolio, get credits on her own, etc. which is really hard to do when you're underage and possibly not in a modeling/acting market. There's also child labor laws that come into effect, and the fact that you'll have to be with her for everything that she does because she can't sign a legally binding contract at her age.

It's a lot to process and think about, and while I would've loved to started sooner in my profession, I know it would've been even harder for me then, then it is now.

Actually, someone else told me that the arena releases tickets at the last minute for sold out venues, and he got tickets for about $45-$65 on the floor.

Sadly many companies bully their suppliers. I could write a huge diatribe about A&P, specifically sav-a-center.

Actually, wait, I already did. "Why Mega Markets Can't Sell Gourmet Cheese" was entirely about Sav-a-Center. Who, thankfully, is going to get bought out by Publix very soon because the company is doing horribly.

I'm probably going to pen something eventually on Whole Foods, but I'll leave that for later.

I almost always tell anyone looking for help to go see a Manager because if it's an employee, you never know what kind of help you'll get.

It also depends on what the employees have been told. I know when I worked for Walmart I was told Vendors couldn't use the bailers. I worked at other stores where there was similar issues. I worked at stores where the vendors did more work than the employees (Walmart & non-Walmart). It all depends on what the company/management is telling them. Or what someone who previously did your job might have done. Or what kind of agreement the greeting card company has with Walmart (free stuff always makes people happier).

Yes. It does depend a lot on where you're located. If you're not in a major city doing filming, then you're not going to find extra's job. The best place to look is craigslist.org
