Hi Erica! Thanks for sharing. If there's a personal message then I'm sure you'll get a reply but if its a general message for all, then....

I like your pic. You look real extroverted, smiling and positive in your attitude towards others. Don't let it get you down.You call say hallo to the world and hug the world but friendship is a matter of investing attention, listening to someone's message,respect,tolerance, sometimes passing genuine admiration and getting it back. If you do take the time to get to learn someone in the internet, it is possible. It depends on your expectations ,you know. If your expectations are high the reaction might be frustrating.
But if you only want to say hallo, it's alright. Some react and some don't. Concentrate on those who reacted and it might be the beginning of a great friendship. Have a nice day and a nice time.

Thanks for sharing your comments. I think it's worth watching the film if the holocaust theme hasn't bogged you down in the past. The German TV is bringing up this theme ever now and then. Thanks for the time and consideration.

Dear TK and Susan,
You hit the nail on the head. I thought Gather was a wonderful haven when I first joined it, but now I can't even upload my pics and stories because of "technical difficulties" and that caused me to look for other user-friendly sites. I visit Gather now and then, but I don't have the feeling that I really belong to the Gather community.

The mails are mostly disappointing because they are all circulars addressed to all. The articles are for all, which is good, but when the mail gets too general then one tends to think: it's automated, so why bother.

One thing that's really attractive on Gather are the image-comments and I look forward to them.

The competitions are only for US citizens. Aren't Europeans and the rest of the world not equals? Nice Yankee site, but when will you think globally, without discrimination? You always come up with US publishing rights for members of certain countries only.

The partnership with Author House might be interesting but this publishing house, no matter how nice the ad and selling-formula, is and remains a vanity publishing firm and it's a nice way to collect the money from Gather members, nothing else. A real publishing house gives the remuneration to its authors and not the other way round. Once you get published by a vanity publishing press in Germany and elsewhere, you are finished as an author or poet because you have bought yourself into the publishing world, and the literary circles do not want to have anything to do with such an author or poet. So, my advice is, beware of "the Ides of Vanity Publishing" as budding and "möchte-gern" authors and poets.

I love the USA and its high ideals but there are other sites that are tolerant and encourage their members, irrespective of their creed, colour and citizenship. Think globally, and I'll welcome it anyday.

I'd appreciate a reply from the administration.
