Thanks Linda - glad you liked it. My first Barola (also a Piemonte wine) was at last years truffle dinner - fantastic! When we talk about Italy, we talk about food.

The sweetbreads were the best dish - but, I know some people won't eat the pituitary gland, as delicious as it may be . . .

Yes - just my traveling alone would have made it worthwhile.
And you are so right about the animals - the stuff (especially antibiotics) is in everything we consume that is mass produced.

And then we pee all these drugs right into the ground water for everyone to consume again!

FYI - my blood pressure was always fine until my 3rd Steroid shot into my spine (which allowed me to continue walking) Only medication brought it down. My weight and exercise level remained the same (actually I was able to do more after the shots) but the pressure was alarmingly high! I'm still on the pills for that - hate them!

You are kinder than I - I suspected them of "giving it" to the New Yorkers! These weren't fillets, they were skinned headless bodies, cleaned and breaded and deep fried - served between 2 pieces of toast spread with tartar sauce. Definitely a bony sandwich!

You are in shrimp country - enjoy!

I once drove down the Mississippi through the Southern states and enjoyed catfish on many occasions. Then, years later I took my friend to a catfish place in Olive Branch Mississippi, oh my!(right outside of Biloxie, I believe) They served a catfish fried sandwich with all the bones! I couldn't get him to try catfish again. Even Chef John's farm-raised fillets - sadness!

I brought one home from Italy and the bad one home from the South. (love catfish anyway!) It is stressful to travel.
