i know what you mean. i'm not a very emotional person and grieving and crying at the funeral and for days, weeks, and months after isn't really my thing. i think we hold on too tightly to people and to life and we need to let be. death isn't really the worst thing that can happen to us. nor is it the end...

however, i kind of envy people like the jews who have a set ritual for mourning. sometimes when someone very close is lost, they need something to focus on, like a ritual. and i think it's kind of beautiful, having a tradition and ritual so deep and rich in culture and belief. our american tradition is to cry a lot, eat a lot, and just sit around and feel sorry for yourself and your loss. but the jews, they don't do it because they might go to hell if they don't or bc someone else just tells them to, but because it's honoring the person that was either dead or the person who has suffered the loss. and the thing is, once the mourning time is over, it's over. that person begins, in stages, to return to a normal life. i don't know, it's just...beautiful.

i understand what you are trying to say in this article. but i must say, we have to remember that we choose politicians, not saviors. so therefore, each is human and has their problems. no one person has it under control, not even politicians. so therefore it's like those dumb tests where there is no right answer, but you just choose the BETTER answer. the problem is that they all lie so we have no way to tell exactly who these people are and how they really function. we just have to make the most educated decision. that's all.

to put in my two cents, i like her. and no one can tell me that she doesn't stand for women and women's rights because i am a woman and i think she would be a fine choice.

i have to remind myself most of the time not to put much stock in happiness, though. happiness has such a shallow meaning, and one that can change from day to day. but i know that my purpose and joy comes from Jesus alone, regardless of my mood and circumstances. i can't say yet 'it is well with my soul', but one day, after Jesus has fully changed my heart, i will be able to.

my pastor brought up an interesting point as we are going through the book of Galatians. he said that generally, Allah's character is a judgemental god, the one we think of with the rules and stipulations. but the God i worship is one, not of rules, but one that judges and equally possesses mercy and grace and love for everyone he's made, regardless of whether they agree with him of believe in him. eh, my two cents...

i have a painting that i did sitting over my bed on the wall. it's simple, a black background with 'purpose' written in blue. i have this there to remind me of the life i have ahead of me, that there is more to my life than wasting it trying to make money and spending my time on trivial things. i know there is more for me than an average life, and i want to remind myself of it everytime i climb into bed. thank you for pointing that out...
