You forgot to mention that there is a Dorchester contract in the future for the best romance book in November and  $1000 contest for one person who can complete 20 chapters by July 31st (no particular genre, I don't think). ~LOL~ Shiela's story is MARVELOUS so make sure to get over and read it. www.textnovel.com - You have to register, but it's a great place for a lot of free reads. Actually, it just needs to be from the male point of view...I've written three book now from the male POV and it's been a blast, but only one is a little erotic. I know there are a lot of romance writers out there who have either already written in this genre....or would like to ~teehee~ :)

Sheila - What a wonderful review to find in my articles this morning! We've had some hard times in our family over the last two months, so it was a ray of light in an otherwise dark world. I am so glad you enjoyed both books and am happy to let you know that the pre-quel and the sequel have both been picked up for next year. Now all I have to do it write them! Anyway, thanks again for your review. I just found out yesterday that Starsight I is up for an Independent Book Award this year, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Take care and thanks again! M:)

Not sure, Nancy, since I don't know much about MS programs on Mac (just use it for photoshop and other graphics programs). I'm assuming it would since I believe the programs are almost identical. Let me know if you get it to work. M:)

For Word 2007, here's what I did to get both macros to work:

1. Copy the "dic" file onto your hard drive.
2. Open it with notepad and change out the list to whatever you want. IMPORTANT: The macro does not recognize anything but single words with letters only, so take out all phrases from the list.
3. Save it to someplace you can find it easily, but remember to save it with a "dic" extension and not the defaulted "doc" extension.
4. Open the WeakWords.docm she has listed.
5. At the top of the page you may get a security warning that will disable the macro. Select enable to make it work. The Word Frequency macro seems to work without any problems, but the Hilite needs some help (at least it did for me...try it first before you do any of this, since my computer can be a little tricksie sometimes).
6. Go to "view" then "macros." Select "Hilite" from the list and hit edit.
7. Go to the highlighted line (in yellow) and change the directory to where you put your "dic" file. Hit the "save" icon at the top and close the macro. Make sure to copy the macro into your "normal" doc by using the "Organizer..." button on the right of your macro list.
8. Open your document, go to "view", then "macro" and see if your macros are now in there. If they are, give them a try.

I especially like the word frequency macro...that's something I've been wanting for a long time.

You're more than welcome - I just used it for the first time and it's very handy. It's a bit tricky to use the first time (I've got Word 2007), but I finally got it figured out. Drop me a line if you have problems with it. :)

Actually, small publishers have their own stores online, but not very many people buy from them. Online buyers prefer Amazon. Honestly, I think everyone will be doing POD, eBooks, and in-store printing machines (these sell for about $5,000 now and are in airports as we speak). I think that might be the solution, but, as with everything, transition takes time. Hopefully, this transition will be as fast as computer technology.

I'm the eternal optimist, so I'm hoping this is another indication of the down trend in the economy and it will go back up again. However, I think this will change the way big pubs do business. My prediction is they'll go with POD pretty soon and start expanding into eBooks. Time will tell...

I think the main message here is to go out and buy books. The returns are not the ones we bring back to the book stores, it's the ones the book stores can't sell that go back. Anyway, buy books...
