I'm with you. I always thought Elvis was the king of pop. It was news to me that Michael Jackson was. I also agree with c.l. mareydt. This was a man who was completely uncomfortable with the fact he was a human being.

How do you know you got a 1? I looked back at my articles and can see the averaged rating but I've never been notified when someone rates me. I actually never realized people were rating me until last year and I've been on gather for two.

Thank you Renee. It drives me crazy when I cut and paste something I've written and put it in Gather. A lot of times it doesn't leave spaces between words

never not even for formal. If I need to order my thoughts I use a mind map (Tony Buzan writes some good stuff on how to do this). An outline is so counter-intuitive and linear. A mind map is awesome because that is how your brain naturally works anyways. I also believe in writing the way Natalie Goldberg suggests. I often write "in my head" and then put it into a program like yWriter5 (for Windows) or StoryMill (for iMac). These two programs work for stories.

Okay Michelle this needs to be written. An excellent opener for a sci-fi. Two suggestions. Every November a group called the National November Writers Month has a contest. Its to write 50,000 words by the end of November. I started it this year and got to 15000 but had a family crisis and it went by the way side. It was incredibly motivating.
The second thing that makes writing a novel easier is getting a little program that helps you write and organize what you write ywriter. Just google that and it will take you to a site that has a free download for the program. Just check it out and give it a whirl then I want to finish reading this story!

thank you all for you comments. John I actually didn't realize I had done that til you mentioned it. It was funny though. I just sat down, wrote it then checked the word count. It was bang on 100 words! it was meant to be written. LOL
