I happen to agree that is it not fair. We have created a link between sex and seeing body parts and that is why we are still clinging to a logically impotant argument to cover women up. I would argue that total nudity (although still not appropriate in most cases) shouldn't be illegal either. If I can see a man get his head blown off on TV then I should have the same right to see nude human beings, no matter how disgusting :)

The only way to NOT trivialize sex is to teach kids the truth about it. It CAN be dangerous, but you don't hear HOW if you just teach abstinance. It can be good, but teaching them not to do it goes against that altogether. The truth is it is both and they should know the truth so they can make their own decisions, we are raising kids to make their own decisions aren't we? Or do we want them to do what they are told and work in that cubicle their whole lives?

Education is about giving people the tools to make their own decisions, so why cut our sex from that equation? When we talk about it like it is a desease already before anything happens we act like it is something different than our everyday decision making, we put a cloak on it. That itself creates the subverted perversions we see as problems. Sexual decisions should be an extension of our everyday decisions and actions, not a dark field to fear and run from. What do kids do to places they are told to fear? They investigate themselves, without talking to adults first.

Peopl that are pro-abstinance have the wrong idea of what sex-ed is I find. I was never told to "go have sex", or "you will have sex anyway". They always said, IF you are going to do it, this is the safe way. TV and movies tell us that already, except they don't tell us the safe way. Would you rather your teens go have sex with no clue how to do it safe and tell them not to, or accept reality that most will and teach them how to stop the spread of std's and early pregnancy? That is the choice, saying we can stop them is just as dumb as saying we can stop drinkers by saying to stop, hello, how is that working out?

I have lived in NJ for a couple months now, from Seattle originally, and I was suprised at the smell/lack of cleanliness in such an expensive city.

My question, however, is don't you feel like you are on-stage all the time? I mean, since there are so many people in most public places all the time, do you feel (you may not because you are used to it) like you are on-stage because someone can see you most of the time in your life?

My girlfriend and I were talking about this in central park the other day. I guess that is why NYers are more outgoing than most people. Maybe?

I used to in-line skate aggressively (aka the x-games stuff *teeth clinch*). We used to learn rails in parks when no one was there, and I was watching some skaters in central park and realized that most people in NYC would have to learn (aka fall and look stupid sometimes) in front of people all the time.

Plain and simple there is NO reason why gay people can't get married except the bigotry that seems to have the laws backing them up. The Constitution claims all citizens should enjoy EQUAL rights under the law. Last I checked that is where we get our laws justified, so it is unconstitutional to BAN gay marriage because it is a right of all citizens. Period.

The opposition has twisted this so badly they have convinced people that gay people are fighting for some change, rather than their legal rights just being recognized.

My opinion is to take the civil unions in states that are 'iffy' and take marriage in the rest and then just call it marriage until the "legal" term is archaic. Like you said, a word is powerful. Take what you can get and call it what it is. It will change fully in time I'm sure.

Wasn't it the eunichs that ruined the Chinese royalty? They had too much power and the empire fell, so from that we can assume this will happen to America, damn those people!

Or at least this is what those idiots fighting against human rights will claim. They already think they have ruined marriage right? The 50% of straight marriages that end in divorce has nothing to do with it, of course.

After Reagan deregulated the news industry, they have no choice but to get ratings like any other show, plus, they are owned by only a handful of companies, so the news is funneled through the companies interests first before getting to the TV or in the Newspaper.

"Somewhere former President Ronald Reagan is laughing. Why? Because his program of "deregulation" from the 1980s has finally claimed a 70-year-old, full-service radio station, WEST, which actually dispatched news and information to its audience.

For 25 years we broadcasters were yelling to the public to look out because the coming new world order would mean the elimination of news and information as we knew it.

Deregulation lead to consolidation of the broadcast, airline and banking industries. Broadcasting is in shambles because conglomerates own just about everything and control our information. There's no left-wing or right-wing conspiracy. It's all owned by five companies and they are playing us like a fiddle!

The first order of business when local radio stations were bought up in the 1990s was the elimination of the news people. Why? Because "it cost too much to run with no return on the dollar."
