"Behind every great fortune is a crime"
The super rich have ALL gotten there by squeezing the poor, taking advantage of them with low wages and lower opportunities. Remember the "Robber Barons" of the 19th century? They made their money off the backs of the working poor, and started fortunes that are still being used by their descendants, more than one hundred years later.

The problem is that the Government for the people, of the people and by the people, has become the Government for the Rich, of the Rich and by the Rich. The current tax system was written to benefit the rich with tax loop holes that increase as one's income increases. They may pay 75% of the taxes, but they get 90% of the tax breaks, so many of them pay less in actual taxes than most of us do.

And the current Campaign financing laws let them buy our politicians with the contributions they give them. We need to remove the obscene amount of money it takes to run for office, which is growing every year. Look at how much was spent for the recent NYC Mayor election, by a millionaire that wanted to keep his position, at any cost.

I think that this goes to the heart of the "Nature vs Nurture" argument. Some of us are taught right from wrong, but many are not. Society often seems to contradict the teaching of morality, when some people seem to get away with things over and over. What is considered moral in one society is different in another society.

There do seem to be some things that all societies have in common, such as don't kill, lie, and steal, Etc. But many other things are very different from place to place, and they seem to be the result of "training".

This all seems to me that some is natural and some is taught, and it is often hard to find the line.

After 12 years of Reagan-Bush and "Trickle down" gifts to the top 5%, and 8 more of Bush-Cheney doing the same, it is way past time to get back to a national government that cares for the other 95%, not just the rich.

We can't let them try to make this election about personality only! The cult of personality that surrounded Regan and Bush had got to come to an end.

We need to make it about the real issues that will effect this country for the next generation.

I have long had strong feelings about the idea of life being predestined.

If it is taken to it's logical conclusion, then my life will be the same no mater what I do.

I can not improve my life with hard work, and I don't have to do anything but follow along, taking each day as it comes.

Predestination relieves me of all responsibility to make any effort, both good or bad to improve my life or anyone else's life.

Every good or bad thing that happens in the world was predestined, so why bother to try to stop it or improve it, if it was predestined?

This is the justification of the lazy, to do nothing to help or hinder.

Although I am afraid that there will be plenty of dirty tricks this fall, both at the ballot and on the air waves and anonymous email, I do feel that it is in Hillary's long term interest to do all she can to help Obama win. If she does any thing less that 100%, she will be blamed with helping the enemy, and have a very hard time getting any support next time.

She could wait eight years for another try, or stay in the Senate and become the most powerful woman in the Senate, as Teddy did when he realized he could not run for president like his brothers.

There was never a large difference between Hillary and Obama, but the difference between either of them and McCain is huge.

Almost any Democrat will do a better job than almost any Republican.

There is another connection to the 1968 campaign that that she has forgotten. When the battle was taken all the way to the convention, the party was thrown into such strife, with riots inside and outside the convention, that they were not able to re-unite in time for the fall election and lost to Tricky Dick. That would never have happened if they had not been fighting so hard with each other.

Yes, we have the greatest country in the world.

But I can't help feeling that we used to be so much more than we are today. I also hope that we get back on the path that made us great, that we have stumbled on in recent years.

I feel that those that have killed others in brutal and sadistic ways should not be allowed to ever prey upon others again the rest of their lives. If they continue to live out their lives in relative comfort in a prison somewhere, then I have a problem with that. The punishment should fit the crime.

However there have been a lot of people convicted of crimes they did not commit, released in recent years when DNA evidence showed them not guilty.

There is strong evidence that money and power, or the lack of it, is a stronger influence on whether someone goes to jail then guilt or innocence.

Until our judicial system is fixed to really punish the guilty and release the innocent, then I must feel that the Death Penalty should be suspended.
