She could get the Republican nomination as the party continues to purge all but the true believers from it's ranks. She couldn't be elected unless the economy totally went to hell in a hand basket (think great depression).

You are absolutely right that there is no reason to pin this on President Obama. People respond to what is rewarded and, apparently, the system does not reward cutting waste or abuse. If Medicare is the model for the public option it does make me wonder.

PS
If I were a health inspector, I don't think I would trade a good report for free meals at the offending restaurant.

Does it matter if it started under Bush? In terms of civil liberties, the Obama administration has pretty much continued Bush policies.

There is a lot of truth to what you say, largely because the Republican party has, largely, purged all but the hard core ideologues. Much to the chagrin of their left wing, the Democrats still have the blue dogs and some independent thinkers like Claire McCaskill.

My point is that, while certainly not my cup of tea, Fox still has a substantial portion of it's audience that are not ditto-heads.
