It amazes me how passionate you all are at NOT RESPECTING other people's views and yet wanting yours to be respected; to speak against someone else's views of truth and yet wanting it to be assumed that yours is...well, truth. From this point on, I will ONLY respond with scripture. You can take all of this up with the higher power:

"Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you."---I Timothy 4:16

Hope you get the affirmations that you seem to need.

As for me, I am at peace and will continue on my path.

Den. It takes faith to read ANY book.

What makes you believe your perspective of "truth" is any more or less than anything else? It's always interested me how people will use another book to disprove the Bible. My life has moved just fine and I am at peace with the Bible being the "main" book in my life, but yes, I do read other literature. For instance, a book that I'm really digging right now is "Pagan Christianity". (Gasp!)

But, I think people can spend so much energy disproving the Word that they miss the message within it.

Sandy, as you are free to provide your...perspective, as you see fit, I can do the same. I do post openly, but if you feel the writings are "getting old"...there are SO MANY OTHER OPTIONS on here. I respect your right to read elsewhere.

However, if you choose to continue to read these, what's also "getting old" is you providing the same comments. I heard you. I am doing what I am called to do. It's that simple.

Oh, and I use "capitalized letters" for emphasis because I can't italicize. I'm not yelling at you, but I am stressing my point...since it seems that it is still not being made clear...for whatever reason (go figure).

I respect your right to disagree...please respect my write to do what I wish.

Thank you. I sent something very similar on another post. I mean, to come back again and again just to insult...it's...silly to me. I don't have a problem with people who do not agree and am even open to their perspectives, but I wish that even "they" would realize that you catch more bees with HONEY...

Jerome...I read a lot of different things. Celestine Prophecy, for instance is one of my all-time favorite books and, one of my favorite quotes of all time is by Buddha. But anyone who reads these yes, needs to understand that I am a student of God/scripture and a follower of Christ.

What's "interesting to me" is that if you are so not with this form of theology, first, take that up with scripture (I didn't write it---2 Timothy 3:16) and secondly, to write me to tell me how much you don't agree with it...well, it's "odd" to me that you would return only to insult.

Which leads me to believe that you are not as AGAINST it as you claim...uncomfortable, maybe, but I don't go on atheist sites (for example) to tell them how "crazy" and "bad" they are. I RESPECT that they think a different way than I do and so our points of views are simply going to differ. I feel the same *should* apply here.

Obsessed? Called. Take that up with God, too.

I will agree that all things work together (Romans 8:28) and in that sense, yes, the possum was a good thing. But you know what (and this is really an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CONVERSATION), I also have aborted four children and I now mentor teen moms. No, I don't think God "willed" that I terminate my pregnancies so that I could now reach other unplanned pregnancies. I just think that when I am in his will, he can line, even the "not so good things" to work in our favor.

OK, ya'll are taking this to a WHOLE 'NOTHER LEVEL. :-)

Walker presents some good points. I agree that it's fascinating just how much paganism is in Christianity. Many Christians don't keep the Seventh-Day Sabbath...keep the holy days...observe the correct time for the New Year (that would be October)...shoot for that matter, many speak of Jews as if they one they claim to follow (Christ) wasn't one.

THAT SAID, it takes the same amount of "faith" to believe what Walker is referencing as his material proof as it does for me to believe the Bible...and yes, while there are sure to be some translation discrepancies, and I do believe there were some political agendas in leaving out certain books (Walker, I saw Zeit Geist and I found a lot of it to be quite fascinating), I will be honest...the Bible has been the most CONSISTENT piece of literature when it comes to apply life principles and seeing results.

You all have lost me on the "gay" thing. (Besides, doesn't gay mean "happy"? Do you mean HOMOSEXUAL?)

Leah, I sent you a bible study that I did on submission.

Susan, yes, you are right in how I interpret the Word. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God (John 1:1). However, yes, we are "sister spirits" in the sense it needs to be used in context.

I think what always amazes me is that most Christ-followers agree that we are sinners, which means that there would be things in the Bible that "doesn't sit well" with all of us, wouldn't you say. One my favorite mottos is a sin is whatever you don't do. It's in our nature to buck against the system; to want to follow our own sense of reasoning and avoid any kind of discomfort...but when it comes to marriage/submission and the purpose for it...the Word, and the context of it, is pretty consistent.

Anyway...loved the exchanges. I always enjoy talking to thinkers/readers/seekers.

Umm...

I guess it depends on if you are coming from the resolve from a biblically-based perspective or not. Without question, the Bible says that a wife is supposed to submit to her husband...AS HE SUBMITS TO GOD. (Ephesians 5:22, Colossians 3:18). It was introduced in the Garden of Eden...well, outside of it as a consequence of Eve leaving her husband's side (Genesis 3:15-16). I believe until then that there was no need for submission because everyone...God, man and woman were on one accord.

I am not sure why so many women take issue with submission...to reserve power, to control it, is not synonymous with having a lack of it.

As far as authority, that too, is not synonymous with submission...at least in the context that it is spoken of in I Corinthians 7:3-5:

"Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control."

I think people can discuss opinion all day long and I find it to be a "growth" thing in doing so because it challenges people to expand internally...but as far as challenging the Word on these topics...I dunno. It's pretty clear cut.

Hey Tina,

I smiled when I read your response to my "Are You Sure It's a Sacrifice" devotional. Thanks for taking the time to share your perspectives. More Christians should be open to different insights.

As far as gossip and your words concerning it, first, it came from the source's mouth and either way, the scenario aided in making my point and so I am at peace. Furthermore, ANYTHING THAT IS PREACHED ON, is based on hearsay...I dare say (gasp!) even scripture. None of us were there, it's based on someone else's intepretation on the events that were happening at that time. It's our *faith* that causes us to believe in it, but I don't know one pastor who doesn't use current events, situations to make a point. When Juanita Bynum and Paula White had their unfortunate situations, boy, if I read one more "religious perspective" on it, I thought I would throw up just because "Christian media" had inundated me with so much of it. I don't think God doesn't want us to address issues, "in the world" or otherwise. I think they need to be addressed in a way that will prove to be beneficial. Yes, love covers a multitude of sins, but cover does not mean deny, coddle, ignore, or conveniently overlook.

Anyway, thanks again for the thoughts. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY PEOPLE GROW. And you didn't offend me. I know who and whose I am...when that's the case, offense isn't really so much of an issue.
