True American, if the government caps the prices doctors and hospitals can charge for health care where will the money come from for medical inventions, innovations and research?

More tax dollars?

Rich people the world over come to America for their health care because we are on the cutting edge. And we're on the cutting edge because we have a health care system that, despite it's faults, is the most market-driven on the face of the earth.

The solution to health care is to make it more market-driven, not less. Make individuals more involved in paying for their own health care. That will introduce market pressure on hospitals, create more competition and ultimately lower the price of health care.

Well, people like me are trying to get the law changed by pointing out the absurdity of the war on drugs. Or, at least the war on marijuana.

That's how change occurs. I, personally, have never smoked marijuana. Just not my cup of tea, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be legal.

What's particularly interesting to me is how often the left complains about "big business" when it is liberal policies that promote big business. Every time the Democrats levy a new tax on business, institute a new regulation or pass some inane law like the minimum wage it hurts small businesses.

Because it's easier for big companies like Wal-Mart to deal with a new tax, or deal with having to pay employees a dollar more an hour (either because of the minimum wage, new payroll taxes or new requirements to cover employees with health care) than a small mom-and-pop business.

Liberals tax and regulate businesses to death, and then wonder why the only businesses that survive are the big ones.

You're right. It's not. I came back from lunch and noticed my error. I've corrected it, and the numbers actually quite a bit different...further carrying out my point.

It's hard working without an editor.

For a poll to be valid, it must be a random sample. If a pollster sets out to make a 50/50 split between Dems and Repugs--the poll is invalid because the sample is no longer random.

I didn't call for a 50/50 split, did I? Obviously you're the one who needs a course in statistics.

What I'm calling for is a sample that is truly representative of America as a whole. That means including a representative sample of Democrats, Republicans, independents, etc. Most media polls have something like 46% Democrats, 36% Republicans. That clearly isn't representative of the nation as a whole.

Sort of a moot point given that we don't know the demographic make up of this particular poll. But feel free to continue your nasty and snide remarks. That's about all you're good for.

I'm always amazed at how many people say there "were no WMD's in Iraq." Yes, there were WMD's in Iraq, they just didn't comprise the stockpiles we expected to find.

We've found tons of yellowcake uranium, not to mention thousands of shells filled with sarin gas. These weren't what our intelligence said we'd find, and certainly don't comprise the threat we thought Iraq was, but what can you do?

The President didn't have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight when he made his decision to invade.

But, in the interest of fairness, I will be more than willing to eat my hat if a single one of you "there were no WMD's!" people can find me a single major American political leader who didn't think Iraq had WMD's pre-invasion.

Find me one, and I'll eat my hat.

Clearly, it is in the best political interest for Democrats for us to do badly in Iraq, or at least appear to do badly. It explains their rhetoric, and why they're constantly moving to goalposts as we achieve victory.

As for the media, a study showed that 85% of journalists were registered democrats. Keeping in mind that we all have our biases which make their way into our work, why is it such a liberal media such a hard thing to believe?

That's a canard. All rights recognized in America are enshrined in the Constitution. Marriage isn't mentioned, thus it is not a right.

Unless you'd like me to declare that I have a "civil right" not to pay taxes for your child's education...or decide that the "equal protection" clause means that I shouldn't have to pay any more taxes than anyone else.
