Way to go for truly engaging in your volunteer work!
A lot of people who have school requirements like that just don't look for the good experiences among the required time

#9 is not a surprise to me...
My two felines have done some amazing acrobatics in their time.

When they rub their paws or cheeks on something (including you!) they are marking you with their pheromones to claim you as theirs. Not affection in quite the same way we humans like to think, but still a nice feeling, eh?

My sympathies.

As you deal with the grief and confusion please do not isolate yourself too much. There are indeed coping mechanisms that are useful, but there is no one size fits all.... I like those in Linda's comment above! I expect they would be useful in many circumstances

Dan - Working with people with such issues has got to be draining. In addition to the Gather activities, I hope you have found some kind of positive, uplifting activity to engage in to help provide some balance.

I have been in grad school, possibly my last quarter for a little bit while I negotiate with my management to see if I can get an exception to continue getting company education funding.

I have been meeting with people in the agency I raised a puppy as an assistance dog candidate to see how I can integrate working on my final Master's project (assuming I can make it that far!) with further support of their program and upcoming change projects.

Labs are great @ training the people they live with.

I just 'turned in' the yellow Lab girl I raised for Summit Assistance Dogs. I was her foster mom for just over a year - I was SHOCKED how sneaky they can be, getting you to do what THEY want....

If your schedule does not allow for full time pet ownership, maybe working as a foster parent for pets from an animal rescue group.

You write such awesome postings and take great photos, so you might even try helping them out with photos and "profiles" for their shelter's site or petfinder
