Don - I've been called a lot of things, but an "America hating moron" is not one of them. What, praytell, makes you think that I hate America? Surely it's not the fact that I've served in it's military for 27 years or now have a daughter serving as well. I wonder what it could be.

Bruce - you must be delerious. "transparency and accountability" from government????????????? And government is more responsive? You've never worked with federal employees, have you? Responsive isn't in most of their vocabulary. And transparency - I've never seen people as protective of the information in their jobs becuase they know if they are seen as needed (because they are the only ones with the information) they will be safe. Of course, the actual performance and results rarely matter.

Business, on the other hand, is responsive to the ebbs and flows within the market. The problem with the healh care industry right now is that it is so over-regulated by government.

Take many of the regulations away, encourage Health Savings Accounts, institute real tort reform and watch how things start working better than they are now; without 2000 + pages of regulation, penalties and government control in our lives.

Amazing R.F., you had to dredge up the minutia of the bill in order to justify the immediate taxation for the entire bill. The so-called medical coverage you oh so desperately want does not start for 4 years - but the taxes for that benefit start now. To me that's called being robbed by my government for nothing.

Oh, and don't forget about the punitive fines for those Americans who don't want to participate. That's what you call real compassion.

The taxes will be paid BEFORE any benefits are seen from this terrible legislation. Of course the Libs don't care to tout that in their arguments for "competitiveness" (HAH!), etc. What a SHAM!

Of course, this just might be argued that the increase in taxes that the middle class will have to pay will go to paying down the deficit that has been so quickly increased in the last 10 months. That won't be paying for healthcare - but, then again, it never was about health care; it's all about government control over Americans.

Tyranny here we come.

Will - to try to look at these as the same type of thing is wrong. Hassan and Akbar planned and executed their actions with precision (particularly Hassan). They knew what they were doing and why (to do their part to stop America from winning the War on Terror). They were not only terrorists but traitors.

It's this blurring of the lines which will let people's guard down and get people killed just like what almost happened on the airplane coming into Detroit.

Yeah, no kidding! On top of all this, he's proclaiming his stunt from a Hacker's Convention. Sounds a little bit like the Mafia meeting in Las Vegas and having breakout groups on how to run drug operations.

As always, when try to compare apples and oranges, you get some odd results. True there are some charities that do an excellent job with a contributor's money and there are those that do a very poor job with it.

The issue is exactly what is the definition of charitable works? For example, the Salvation Army is one of the best run charities (I was on the advisory board for the largest Salvation Army post in NH for a number of years) and yet, in this ranking, shows very poorly. I believe that a large part of that goes to the other activities that the Salvation Army does - primarily the running of the Church (they are their own Christian denomination) - which gives back to the community in many, many ways but may not be considered "charitable". The same would be true, I believe, for a few other well known Christian charities (Focus on the Family for example) that do not do well on this list.

The bottom line is that this is just one measure of a charity and should be used by wise givers along with other information in order to determine where they should place their money.

I don't think it's stupidity - it's more about laziness. There are very few people out there who want to get into any in-depth discussion about history or politics. If it's not about sports or the latest star of American Idol, Americans don't want to be bothered.

Interesting retort.

Calling them terrorists is accurate. It does not give them the power you think it does and not calling them terrorists confuses what they do with your basic common criminal on the street.

My comment above stands - we are at war and when an enemy combatant commits an act of terrorism against us he needs to be treated much, much differently than a "scum bag murderer". No Miranda rights, no civilian trials, etc.

Your sentiment sounds good, but it won't work in practice and will continue to lower our guard in a fight our enemies are not ready to stop.

There's a huge, huge difference between praying to God for guidance and being proclaimed the "messiah". Get over your anti-Bush hatred - he's gone. As the libs said after Bush came into office - we should "move on".

There is a difference between a crime and an act of war. What MAJ Hassan and this Nigerean did were acts of war, not crimes. This means it was terrorism. We are not going to make these people who want our destruction feel good by calling them "nicer" names.

I wonder what happened to Dick Morris? Not that I'm complaining, he's turned into an excellent advocate for many of the positions I believe in. But he's come an awful long way in the last 15 or so years and I'm curious as to what the turning point was.

Regarding his article, he is exactly right. We should never give up because that's when tyranny wins. Freedom isn't free goes the old cliche, but it couldn't be more true. Look at what the signers of the Declaration of Independence gave up in order to proclaim the beginning of America.

Regarding how some people idolize our President, it shouldn't come as a surprise. Ever since Adam and Eve people have been beguiled by Satan into idolizing things other than the Most High God (I love how Nebuchadnezzar says it).

The difference now is that we have a media that is pertpetuating this falsehood and the object of these people's idolization does not shut it down (like the angel does in Revelation 19:10 and a couple of other places in that book).

What happened to the Emporer with no clothes might happen to our President.
